The Sangheili really won the Human-Covenant War

After the Human-Covenant War came to an end, many within the UNSC used propaganda that they’ve won the war and that the Master Chief single handily saved humanity from extinction. But the truth is that humanity didn’t really won the war. It turns out the Sangheili really saved humanity from extinction. Even after the Great Schism, the UNSC defense fleet around Earth was smashed by the Covenant Loyalists, led by the Brutes. Even though the UNSC pushed the Prophet of Truth through the portal to the Ark, the Flood covered all around the ruins of New Mombasa. Earth herself could’ve been infected within hours had not the Swords of Sanghelios Fleet of Retribution arrived to glass the Flood-Infected Indulgence of Conviction to stop the parasite. The UNSC Forward Onto Dawn would’ve never reach the surface of the Ark if Rtas 'Vadum’s fleet hadn’t defeated Truth’s Fleet. And finally, it wasn’t John 117 that killed Truth, the leader of the Covenant, and ended the Covenant Empire. The Arbiter Thel 'Vadam killed him. Even though the Sangheili inflicted decades of devastating destruction to the human population, it was the Sangheili who saved Humanity when all hope was lost. So to those who insult the Sangheili race, calling them “Split Jaws”, just remember that those split jaws saved humanity and ended the Covenant. I rest my case. Glory to the Arbiter! Glory to Sanghelios!

Yeah its commonly accepted that the elites won the war around here. But I wouldn’t say the master chief didn’t save humanity, he did. He was the one who fought through high charity to retrieve cortana and the index and defeated guilty spark and activated the unfinished halo. Doing that defeated the flood and saved humanity. I am curious to know how much the human population knows about the flood, you’d think with them attacking earth they’d know. But the area they attacked was glassed immediately so a cover up isn’t impossible.

I totally agree with you, without masterchief the flood could possibly infect most of the sentinent life in the Galxay. Pretty interesting idea about a coverup about the flood. The knowledge of the flood’s existence would probably have sparked quite some unrest. It would e easy to blame the glassing on Covenant loyalists targeting the UNSC. However, there could be many marines who witnessed the fight, even fought with the Elites, and they would make such a coverup harder.

I think though giv n ONI’s questionable morals that they would secure the marines silence one way or another.

There was indeed a cover up. Spartan Assault has a bonus mission that addresses that at 4:24. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV8eMFqBpQ4

The Elites deserve a shiny metal, but chief gets all the credit instead, lol

Cool thanks for the info , I thought this would be the case but I wasn’t sure. I’d never played that game, not really my kind of thing.

Kind if a stupid remark both elites and humans won. That’s like saying the russians won WW2 but the Americans and the British didn’t

Dude, ONI is making the Master Chief out to be a war criminal and want him dead. Didn’t you hear Halsey in the new trailer?

Or should I say,“deserved” a shiny metal. Now ONI is going to hunt a hero and stop his heroic deeds. How dumb on their part…

Yeah, guess it is’nt that hard to silence them one way or another. Most of them probably died in the battle, and a lot of the survivors died at the ark, if not all.

Elites would have died if humans hadn’t stopped them firing rings and being tricked.

humanity would have lost without reinforcements

they both won

Technically speaking, the Covenant won the war of Attrition, no question. But the Humans, with the help of the betrayed Elites, crippled the Covenant Hierarchy and all but exterminated its newly appointed military commanders, the Brutes. However, it was the Triumvirate of Prophets that directly caused the fracturing of the Covenant, beginning with the unsuccessful attempt by the Brutes to completely exterminate all Elites, and the resulting Great Schism that cost the Covenant an incalculable amount of resources and soldiers, as well as rendering High Charity unprepared to defend against a Flood attack.

I don’t think any one won the war, but there were those who lost harder than others. All sides were almost exhausted after it was all said and done, and with Covenant tradition suddenly having no gelling power, the Elites found themselves having to make up for 3000 years of lost time. Meanwhile paranoia runs rampant in the UNSC, with the Insurgency threatening to take over again and Covenant warlords of all races taking potshots at them as well.

I mean hell, the ONLY faction that seems to be getting their way is the Swords of Sangheilios, but they don’t represent all of Sangheili (though they’d like too). Also ONI, but they’re embroidered in a political cluster -Yoink-. So the Arbiter won the war, and let’s be honest, he kind of did the heaviest lifting at the end. He killed Tartarus, he stopped the Rings from firing, his people saved Earth and he assassinated Truth. But again he doesn’t represent all of Sangheilios officially yet.
