The thing I wonder about Elites in Halo 5 … hop into one of those walk-around missions on Sanghelios with the friendly Elites and go walk up to one of them; they’re massive. Accurately massive. Arbiter is like is like 2 heads taller than Locke. He’s chest-height with them … if Elites had -Yoink!-, you’d be staring right at them.
Point is, they couldn’t just use those assets, they’d have to make new ones. So here’s what they should have done: made new ones, but for multiplayer only. Because I like Elites that tall. They’re supposed to be that tall. But in multiplayer, they need to be the same size as Spartans so everyone is on an even playing field. That’s why the Elites were so small in Halo 2 and 3.
I never liked playing as Elites, but removing them as playable characters alienated (intended) a bunch of Halo fans. I hope to see them be playable in some format in Halo 6.

I never was a big fan of the elites in Arena but I’d have loved to fight as an Elite in the Battles of Sanghelios. Would’ve added some much needed story depth

I’m sure that, just like humans, Elites vary in height. There are some shorter Elites that we could use in multiplayer, and the taller ones would still be around.
But even if they are taller, why can’t they be used in a similar manner to in Reach? Invasion was fantastic because both Spartans and Elites were playable, and were actually different. The size difference actually mattered and was an aspect of the gameplay.
In any case, don’t we have a huge thread on playable Elites? Maybe this discussion should go in there.

Sadly, dinosaurs evolved into birds but the dodo didn’t make it. Lesson learned.
