With a lack of content and a still stupid progression system people are going to start falling off, especially if it takes awhile for content to keep coming to the game. Reckon when this battle pass is complete after the long grind most are just going to stick to those skins and never bother grinding again.
After that casual play will also be filled with teams of friends, so solos won’t be able to enjoy without getting verbally trashed, and the lack of big team maps will just become repetitive… imo they are starting to for me.
Some weapons since the flight are now useless like the ravager. The commando is too bloom heavy so it’s pointless using it in ranked really.
Some vehicles are too powerful and some are borderline useless (chopper). Plus the ones we want to try hardly land in big team and even when they do the maps are too small and many structures block driveways.
At the end of day the casual players are in fact the majority and the game will lose players like halo 5. People like myself will go back to mcc since there’s more content… and a much better progression system.
It’s honestly a shame because this game is fun to play. Hopefully more maps and the option of choice for game mode can arrive soon to keep players invested.
Still extremely excited for the campaign. Hoping that’s where all 343’s time has been invested.
I agree and I would also add that I think the core gameplay is too much of a mashup of concepts from multiple halos that creates an unsatisfying experience.
That along with bad currently available maps, spawns, wonky controls and some very suspect hit detection.
With a lack of content and a still stupid progression system people are going to start falling off, especially if it takes awhile for content to keep coming to the game.
Leaving aside the issue of battle pass progression, I share your concern about this approach to launch playlists. 343 said they did this to “ensure healthy matchmaking”:
Our approach to Halo Infinite’s launch playlists was fairly simple – start with a focused offering to ensure healthy matchmaking and be prepared to adjust as needed.
But how could there not be healthy matchmaking at launch, when the population is bigger than it will ever be? They usually do this playlist consolidation thing at the end of a game’s lifespan, like in the later days of Halo 5, so I was surprised to see them trying it right at launch. Seems like people are going to try Halo Infinite, realize they can’t play Infection or Fiesta or whatever, and leave and never come back. That is exactly what happened when Halo 5 launched with barely anything to do besides generic Warzone and 4v4.
Plus the ones we want to try hardly land in big team and even when they do the maps are too small and many structures block driveways.
Game hasn’t launched yet. I think there is a lot of fair feedback here, and it should be shared, but doomsaying over a game that is technically still in beta is a little silly.
I’ve had an awful time playing Infinite lately, it doesn’t matter how much fun I’m having in the game when someone’s always just going to walk by in their $20 armor set and remind of how messed up this game is.
I load up MCC and I don’t ever get that feeling, everyone is wearing armor they earned, nobody paid a dime to look cool, if you see something rare its because it was hard to get, not because it had a $20 price tag, oh and by the way there’s a much larger variety of color combination because people don’t have to pay for those either, it’s great.
Unless you’ve somehow obtained a review copy or an illegal retail copy, the game is currently in beta. 343i hasn’t done the best job of clarifying this, but they have explained it. Full retail is still in December, everything prior is to be considered beta and stress testing.
Also, the game launches in 3 weeks. This is not a beta, this the game we are getting. They could fix minor bugs but nothing too big. Even if they want to they wont have time to fully rework anything at this point.
Force of habit on the “Bungie” thing, thanks for the catch.
That’s your disposition, I’ll wait to release to judge. It’s not 10 years ago where a game being certified gold actually meant something more definitive. They can literally make changes up to launch and throw it all in a day one patch, which is ths point of something like this. Most of the games issues are minor and completely tunable, they wouldn’t require the type of rework that would take months. Thye are already adjusting issues with the challenge system within 4 days of a soft launch, that’s a fairly positive indication that the work that needs doing can and may be done. I will concede that “may” is the operative.
We’ll see what we see, really won’t know till December.
The thing is the “this is a beta” is not really an excuse anymore. Why? Because all the current issues (mainly battle pass and cosmetics) were stuff that was voiced months ago with the early flights, the true betas. Everyone assumed the problems they would cause and its whats happening right now. 343 was obv aware of it.
They didnt care? Pushed by higher ups? We dont know.
Whose making excuses? Give feedback, complain, point out shortcomings, but outright judging a non-tetsil version of a game is premature.
Many of the issues are based around tuning and implementation, not major development issues, and can easily be fixed by launch. If they don’t fix it, have at it, prior to retail launch its a waste of energy to judge that finished product as is. It’s akin to judging a soup that ls missing ingredients because it’s not actually done yet.
It has launched though. And it has been tested. Multiple times. This is the game that was supposed to be released on December 8th, just released early.
And would you say the player population of this beta is the same, greater than, or less than those earlier flights? This whole thing is an opportunity to get the launch issues out of the way prior to actual launch, and among those issues are things that generate feedback akin to this OP.
I’m not saying they’re gonna rectify everything, just that it’s too early to call it one way or another so why get wound up?
It took 343 11 years to give us reach customization. Which is ironic because it’s exactly the same armor that we had 11 years ago. Also this is not the beta the beta was in August. This is the full game release. They’re only calling it a beta because they promised it was going to come out on December 8th this is their way of getting around that legal loophole. Also it took 343 7 months to give us an infection playlist in Halo 5 7 months to give us a playlist that if you kill somebody with a sword they join your team. Also keep in mind that we brought up all of this progression system up during the betas in August. Yeah 343 still made a conscious decision to sell you the color white for $20.
