Hey guys, before i start this topic I just want you to know that I am not doing this to attack 343.
These are just my ideas and I don’t really want to dictate 343’s actions.
But here it goes.
RULES FOR THE SINGLE PLAYER
Campaign
-
Each major installment of halo must at least feature a story worth telling which EXPANDS the story and doesn’t replace it. For example, (non-halo related) Destiny’s expansion packs give a different story, they don’t expand on it. - Each character you introduce needs to be given an introduction treatment, think about how they introduced the arbiter. That way we can understand the characters, get attached to the characters, (even love the characters). BTW, THIS WAS DONE PERFECTLY IN HALO 4 - Each character must have a unique personality which doesn’t match up with any other character. Reason: It makes the character forgettable. - Expanded material e.g comics, tv series, books should not hinder the development of characters in halo game. - IMPORTANT, when you kill a character, the character NEEDS TO GET A PROPER DEATH AND GIVEN A SATISFYING CONCLUSION TO THAT CHARACTER. This mistake was done in halo reach, with Kat’s death - When a character dies, THE CHARACTER STAYS DEAD and SHOULDN’T BE BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE. Reason: It shows you have done a mistake at some point and it also shows you are inconsistent with what you are doing. Make the campaign at least believable, bringing characters back to life show you messed up. This mistake was done in halo 4/5. IDK whether the mistake was to kill Cortana, or to bring her back to life. - Enemies must be fun and challenging to fight. E.g. enemies which have strategy, know when to throw a grenade, know when to rush and when to retreat. AND NO BULLET SPONGES. This rule was broken in halo 5’s campaign (prepatch) where the enemies constantly rush you. - All bosses must be unique and they also must be fun to fight. E.g. Unique attack patterns, which surprise you. Different forms which again have different attack patterns etc. This rule was broken in halo 5 with the Warden eternal - A matchmaking system so we can play missions with players online without having to manually find them. Successfully done in halo reach - LAN PlayEXTRA ADDITIONS TO THE SINGLE PLAYER
-
An extra mode which doesn’t replace anything else. Like a special ops or anything else which adds to the experience.M****ULTIPLAYER
Matchmaking
-
Psych profiling. Where we can chose who to match up with. Halo reach nailed this. - Dedicated servers. This was done perfectly in halo 5. Not having a problem with matchmaking. This rule was broken in MCC - Forced gamechat for Ranked playlists. - A social playlist which doesn’t require full sweat in order to have fun. This was perfectly done in halo 3 - Joining in progress games for social playlists. - Custom games matchmaking. Find players who want to play custom stuff without having to hunt them - Voting/vetoing for social games and map rotation for arena. - A classic playlist, to give veterans a gift. - An award system, which HAS NO RNG in order to obtain specific armors/ emblems. Halo 5 broke this rule - A 1-50 ranking system along with seasonal ranks to give players a reason to come back.MISCELLANEOUS IMPORTANT
Armor
-
A lot of armors to chose from making sure each set is unique - Customization making sure that we can customize lots of body pieces and make colors look unique. - Black under suits, halo 4 and halo 5 broke this rule. - Light armor effects to make your spartan look cooler.CONTENT
-
FUNDAMENTAL, Each game must set the standards of the next game to come. For an example, when Halo 3 came out with MP CAMPAIGN AND FORGE AND THEATRE, halo reach needed to include that too, because in the future that stuff must be capable also. Halo 4 broke this rule - NO GAMEMODE MUST BE REPLACED. WE ONLY ADD GAMEMODES, NOT REPLACE THEM. Halo 4 and 5 broke this rule - Following the rules ahead. The next halo should include; Camplaign, firefight, Matchmaking, forge, theatre +something new. - All playlists and unique gamemodes should be in at launch. Like KOTH, STRONGHOLDS, BREAK OUT, SLAYER, GRIFFBALL, ASSAULT, CTF. Etc. Halo 5 broke this rule - Addition DLC, must be more than just maps. - MAP REMIXES SHOULD NOT REPLACE THE DEVELOPMENT OF VANILLA MAPS. Reason: It limits replay ability.LIMITATIONS
-
Xbox live gold should not be required to play forge. - Every single map in halo 5 must be customizable. Halo 5 broke this ruleFEATURES
-
Population counter, to show how many people are playing overall, and not individual playlists. Reason: To prevent players from ditching playlists just because of low populationBETA
-
An open public beta test must be taken place at least 6 months before the actuall release - The game’s first playability and reveal must take place a year before aimed release (E3)
-
AND FINALLY THE MOST IMPORTANT THING OF ALL
SPLIT SCREEN IS A TOP PRIORITY
THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL RULE IS
DONT REPLACE, JUST ADD
I probably messed up somewhere here or missed something out but nevertheless what do you think?
Cya lads, have a good one
How in god’s name is every map in Halo 5 not customizable when this is one game where EVERY piece is available on EVERY map in Forge

warzone maps?
You really making that argument?
OP, talking about Kat’s death, I think the ending is fine. It was sad, but in war, unlike how the movies portray it, endings are often sudden and sad. There are no dramatic last words with violin music. It’s quick and sad.

the problem with reach that it tried to introduced too many new characters
Noble team would have been much better if it was just Jorge, Noble 6, and the captain, BUT
If all of those characters had much better emotions, connections between each other, and stronger development.
“Don’t replace, just add” is a really really really really really really bad development principle. Really bad. Leads you to waste time and effort on crap just because you’ve done it before, rather than evaluate whether it makes sense now and whether you can spend your time better elsewhere.
Like split screen. Buh-bye.

I thought Reach had a great story, and every character was introduced, developed, and then unfortunately killed properly. Every Noble Team death made me sad, especially when they were useless deaths like Kat.

Nah spartans are hard as steel and have no time to be drama queens i dont want to have a spartan crying every time somebody dies also i think noble team is good as they are they sure as hell beat the living -Yoink- out of blue team and locke and ossiris in halo 5
I’d rather see no force game-chat, that’s probably one of the worst ideas…think about annoying it will be when you join a game and the other players are swearing and blasting music through their headsets, if we want communicate in teams then find people then go into party chat.
Voting isn’t needed anymore, did we learn nothing from MCC?, I recall having 100+ maps and only 2-3 always got picked and the same would happen to H5 if that happened.
Don’t agree on the death scenario since fans don’t be allowed classic’s to return in some form.
Dedicated servers should NOT dominate all modes, offline modes should be a choice like with split-screen and custom games, forge…Halo 5 did this and practically killed replayability for the future gamers that like to play older games.

agreed
But you still hate voting, even for social gamemodes? Like a balanced voting system?
The dedicated servers bit I agree.

wait you want split-screen to go?
I don’t understand you.

I’m against voting entirely since rather have rotations since means all modes, maps have a chance to be played. Remember Halo MCC, we had tons of maps that were ignored just because a lot of people kept voting for the same map over, over and well I’d rather avoid this situation happening again.

Ok how about this
The server keeps a track record of what has been played, and what hasn’t in a specific database for the people in that specific lobby, they will generate maps that haven’t been played and varieties for that map.
So let’s say (halo 3 for example) we just played Br’s on Guardian, and now we want something else.
The servers will then give a list for
previous: Guardians BR’s
Next: The pit Slayer
Random: Unknown
This is similar to black ops 2’s voting system.
What about this
Forget MCC, that game is broken af
