the return of "wort, wort, wort." and more

When was the last time you heard an elite use the phrase “wort, wort, wort!”? Probably not for awhile unless you’ve played CE lately or occasionally heard a Reach elite do one after he kills you. However, I think it’s time to return it, and all the other elite noises, back to Halo both in the campaign and in the multiplayer. So you know how spartans in Halo 5 multiplayer talk to eachother with callouts and what not? What if you’re using your playable elite in Halo Infinite and just get an epic snipe or assassination and he/she calls out “wort, wort, wort!” or does the elite “ha ha ha ha!” right there on the battlefield? Also, the death cries of elites were always awesome too, especially in CE when you killed a higher rank one and he’d let out a long, heartbroken “noooooooo!” or “wahaaahaaaaaaaaaaa!” Would that not be an amazing thing to hear after you kill that pesky Dino who was spammin’ the Ghost or constantly throwin’ nades? Hell, why not make spartan and elite call outs, death noises, and random banter a customizable feature? Maybe you wanna unlock some sweet Halo 3 elite dialogue, such as when a spartan shoots you and he says “is this about Reach?” lulz.

Idk about anyone else, but if they’re going to implement teammate callouts, a weapon pad announcer, and all that other jazz, they might as well make it a customizable feature. I think Halo Reach had the right idea when creating customizable firefight voices for multiplayer, but they really missed the mark when it came to functionality because whether you had Sgt Johnson or Cortana equipped, your spartan never even talked and only sounded one or two things when you died: a boy or a girl. Lame, and a total missed opportunity.

Honestly, I can’t even pinpoint in my mind what a spartan death sounds like in Halo 5. Occasionally I’ll hear one let it’s last breath out or someone grunt, but it’s not nearly as profound or entertaining as when a spartan or elite dies in Halo 3. Hell, why not make those customizable to? Who wouldn’t want to sound like a classic Halo CE marine when he dies?

All sangheli language should be as it was such as Halo 3. It’s not the same without it

It’s simple stuff like a phrase or yell that can add or take away charm. They’re going for nostalgia, I’d love to hear wort wort wort again.

pretty much. Old Halo games had an accumulation of simple things like this that eventually snowballed into great things. With things like a good death scream and a splatter of blood, I think it serves more purpose than just novelty and charm. When I play Halo 3, Halo Reach, or even Halo 4, the difference between killing people in those games and Halo 5 is pretty significant. Halo 5 has no blood and the death screams are almost unheard, but in Halo Reach when I get killed and I see my spartan’s blood flying on the wall after he/she lets out a howl of death, that just makes the moment so much more significant.

Man, you’re really hitting all cylinders with your thread subjects OP. I think I’ve agreed with all of them. The familiar sounds and voice acting is another large part that defines Halo. Yesterday I played the cross-game sniper playlist on the MCC and as soon as I got to H4’s level it was so grating. Everything was different, the sounds, the look, the comments from the enemies. I forced myself just to finish that level to complete the playlist, but it was unfamiliar and god-awful.

All I gotta say is…

WORT WORT WORT

split screening with my son 1v1, we holler “wort-wort-wort” when we get a nice kill.

Even better, a skull that turns every piece of dialogue, even humans into “Wort, wort, wort”. This should apply to cutscenes as well.

I have always wondered what Wort Wort Wort translates to, XD what are the elites saying as they scream it at the chief?

It just means enemy in sight from what i can remember

I would grind for days is that was like an unlockable armour effect in reach. Days and days. I’d be worting till the cows come home. And if they let you unlock Johnson’s gogogo! As an effect that shouted when you spawned well then I’d have butterflies.
