This post contains some spoilers about Halo 5: Guardins story, so if you have not completed it yet better stop reading.
I was wondering about the Covenant right now, and with the death of Jul Mdama in the first mission, and of course with the Arbiter winning clearly the war, isnt it the Covenant situation a bit confused?
For me the Covenant should stay in Halo, is an essential enemie in the saga.
So now I’m going to ask you this question; would you like to see the return of a kind of the Old Covenant?
Prophets; some Elites; Brutes; Grunts; Jackals; Drones. Why not?
But maybe you prefer another one…
Keep the Storm Covenant just with another leader.
Or the crazy question of take the Covenant out (NO WAY PLEASE!)
What do you think guys? How do you handle with this situation of the Covenant?
Thx for read !
I enjoyed the enemies of older Halo, and not so much the newer Prometheans.

In my opinion, 343 should have introduced the Forerunners and the Prometheans as auxiliary troops for them
Given where the story is and where it is heading with the idea’s and topics it’s forwarding with human acension to take over the mantle, the old covies will never return unless it’s through really poor writing and erasing all the work the Arbiter has done since H2.
Will the Covenant as enemies disappear in h6? No they will most likely be controlled or at least fight in the name of:
Cortana since she will be the new big bad in 6, thus I require all my suicide grunts to shout “FOR CORTANA!!” as they hurl their bodies towards their inevitable doom

Good point !
iirc, another faction of Covenant broke off of Jul 'Mdama’s in the final chapter of Escalation. I haven’t had a proper opportunity to sit down and read the issue yet though, so I may be wrong.
What they’re probably going to do (and I hope to God not) is flesh out the Prometheans with more units and vehicles and make them the only antagonists. Personally, I don’t like the Prometheans.
What I want to see is The Insurrection stepping in to fill the secondary antagonist role. Never before have we fought humans or human vehicles/weapons in the Campaign.
I also would very much like the return of The Flood. AIs are now the bad guys and can hack anything, so I can the Flood with organic weapons and vehicles stepping in and being a major threat.
I don’t like the Prometheans. The Flood and the Covenant are so much cooler.
Plenty of Prophets and Brutes out there still.
Well from what I understood Sunaion was pretty much the last stronghold of the covenant and winning that war would mean taking them out completely, which the Arbiter did.
