As we know the battle rifle is coming back(hooray!)but what other weapons do people want to see come back.
I personally really like the some of the brute weapons like the mauler, brute shot and red plasma rifle. Although they were clumsy and quite inefficient they made you feel really powerful and were fun too use.
But I also would like to see the flame thrower make a return (in the campaign at least) and the carbine which made a really cool sound when fired.
I would be happy if the SMG returned although I cannot see that happening due to dual wielding now being gone :[
If they bring back the Brute Shot I want it to be alot more like the Halo 2 variation than the Halo 3 one, since the Halo 3 one and the Concussion Rifle are almost the same, except the Concussion Rifle is better.
The only weapons I really want to see return are the Energy Sword, Plasma Rifle, and Carbine. And when I say Plasma Rifle, I don’t mean the Halo 2-Reach PoS. I mean the Halo CE beast.
the problem with the plasma rifle CE is it is just too powerful for online. Same with the CE assault rifle and pistol. I think that 343 should bring back more H2 weapons as they felt epic while still being reasonably balanced for online play
I remember playing “Troy” in Halo2 with the brute shot, such a fun and creative custom game, I was kind of disappoijned with the halo 3 one but I adjusted

What does that mean? Why would multiplayer being online change the parameters for how powerful weapons should be? If everything is more powerful, that’s still balanced…it’s just a change in style of gameplay to be faster-paced.
I wouldn’t mind seeing all of the Reach weapons go away, as they were very childish in design. Also, expanding reticules has to be the most annoying thing ever, so that can go away as well.
I sure hope they bring back the Halo 2 style Beam Rifle. That gun was a thing of beauty.

Bringing them back in their former glory is not a problem at all as they will be balanced with the BR and other utility weapons. Until now (Halo 2-Reach) the utility weapon has been able to DOMINATE most other weapons at ranges it was not intended to cover. The buffed AR and plasma rifle will not only make those weapons viable again, they will be able to fit their suited range and COMPETE with the BR. Halo will no longer be strictly a “one-gun-game”.

Agreed. Shotgun used to be able to beat pistol at medium-close range at a good percentage, maybe 1/4 or 1/3 of the time. That would never happen in Halo 2, 3, or Reach against a reasonably skilled BR/DMR user. Although that was in large part tied to the pistol being harder to shoot than those weapons because of less bullet magnetism and better strafing in Halo CE.
I think the later Halos expanded the spread on the shotgun so that it was easier to use upclose but had much more limited range. It was more like a faster-shooting sword than a real gun.

The key to this is lowering aim assist by getting rid of bullet magnetism and shrinking hitboxes back to the size of the actual player models - in order words, in order to hit your target you have to actually be aiming at him!
In addition to this, upping the movement speed (120% of Reach base is probably about right) and increasing strafe responsiveness makes aiming well harder. All of this would make the utility weapons MORE skillful and also give the rest of the sandbox a better chance to compete.
I cant say i miss the maulers. at all. Red plasma rifle maybe a little, but i always loved the h2 blue plasma rifles, dual wield those and you could just pour on the fire. Plasma repeater was ok in reach so i want to see it back but it needs to do more damage to unshielded targets in mp at least the dang thing almost overheats before they go down. Or against elites in campaign it wasnt very effective either, not enough ammo to last long since enemies become plasma sponges. In all honesty i liked reach more than any other halo’s multiplayer i dont see why people hate it so much just chill
And every version of the weapon. It would be epic!
