The Return Of Grey Team Would Be Awesome!!!

GREY TEAM

PO2 SPARTAN-II Jai-006 – Team leader
His position of leadership was a somewhat tenuous one. Both Adriana and Mike did not truly acknowledge his command of the squad, somewhat to Jai’s dismay. Jai had little care of insurgents. He was originally unwilling to protect the lives of the Rubble’s residents, as he considered them all rebels and Covenant-sympathizers.

PO2 SPARTAN-II Adriana-111 – Infiltration specialist
Where most Spartans adhere strictly to protocol and the chain of command, Adriana does not. She is not above openly questioning her commanding officer. Also, she does not appear to mind being out of her armor, whereas most other Spartans say that they feel exposed when they are not in their armor.

PO2 SPARTAN-II Mike-120 – Technical expert
Mike was a technical prodigy: he could use any device with expertise after watching it being operated only once. He could also design many tools, such as the EMP bomb used to disable the Kestrel. He also had a joking nature. Mike would often become flustered and annoyed when he did not have control of his equipment. Mike seems to be careless about any ship he pilots; according to ONI officer Hadley, Mike and his team always requested a new ship for every mission, only to lose it in almost every one.

Description
Gray Team consists of the most independent and individualistic of the SPARTAN-IIs. These qualities were used to create a unit trained to operate for extended periods with minimal supervision and support. Their Mark IV MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor is likewise colored gray. Gray Team’s training placed additional emphasis on individual thought and action. This made them suitable to execute and survive covert missions deep behind enemy lines with no support from friendly units. Their assignments focused on disruption of enemy operations followed by a stealthy extraction.

Battle of the Rubble
During the Human-Covenant War, Gray Team operated behind enemy lines, wreaking havoc on both the Covenant and the remaining rebels. They flew through Covenant and Insurrectionist-held space, looking for targets of opportunity, in their ship and base, the freighter Petya.

In 2535, Gray Team was sent behind enemy lines in order to destroy the navigation data held by the survivors of Madrigal, a world in the 23 Librae system that had been glassed by the Covenant not long after Harvest. The survivors were living in the Rubble, an asteroid space station built by the insurrectionists orbiting Hesiod. A small fleet of Kig-Yar, lead by Reth, had created an alliance with the insurrectionists to trade weapons and slipspace drives. However, these Kig-Yar were ordered by the Prophet of Truth to steal data from the humans that would lead the Covenant to other human colonies and Earth.

Later, Adriana returned to the Petya with Ignatio Delgado, a resident of the Rubble that was attempting to find information about the Kestrel. Unlike Jai, Mike did not care about Adriana’s apparent favoritism of Delgado, whom Jai believed was an Insurrectionist. While aboard the Petya, the Spartans were contacted by the Rubble’s artificial intelligence, Juliana. Despite their attempts to originally prevent her from communicating, the Spartans eventually agreed to hear Juliana out. In exchange for defending the Rubble from the Covenant, Juliana agreed to give the Spartans the data they wanted.

When the UNSC Midsummer Night arrived in the system, it was under attack by multiple Insurrectionists. The Spartans correctly came to the conclusion that they could not save the Midsummer Night from all the ships. Shortly afterward Juliana informed Gray Team that the Midsummer Night’s crew would survive if the Spartans aided the Rubble. She sent the coordinates of Ignatio Delgado’s location to Mike, and ordered them to keep Delgado protected and she would help free the Midsummer Night crew.[9] While Delgado and Jai aided the Midsummer Night and her crew, Adriana and Mike pursued smuggler Peter Bonifacio to prevent him from giving the navigation data to the Kig-Yar. The two Spartans encountered the insurgent leaving the Rubble aboard his freighter, Distancia. Mike quickly disabled his ship and Adriana boarded the freighter. Bonifacio promised that he would tell the Spartans where he hid the data if they allowed him to escape, which the reluctantly agreed to. After retrieving the navigation data, Adriana returned to the Petya and the Spartans agreed to let the Kig-Yar betray and kill Bonifacio in time.

Battle of Metisette
As Kig-Yar ships closed in on the mass drivers, Rubble ships flew in and fired missiles to prevent the destruction of the mass drivers. Meanwhile, more and more asteroids emptied as the thousands of citizens of the Rubble evacuated. Although the AI Juliana lost some asteroids to both the Sangheili and Kig-Yar, she managed to move several more asteroids to meet with the UNSC forces moving in on Metisette.

While over Metisette, the UNSC Midsummer Night performed a high-speed SOEIV deployment, down to the Redoubt on the surface of Metisette. The Midsummer Night came under fire from Kig-Yar anti-aircraft guns, and slowed down, to allow the pods to drop, before speeding off out the atmosphere again. The pods landed in the Redoubt’s plaza, where Unggoy were waiting in buildings. There were two main forces of ODSTs that landed; one with Jai-006, and one with Adriana-111.

Unfortunately, Adriana landed among a large group of Unggoy. She fought them off using a variety of methods and was eventually able to regroup with the ODSTs. Jai’s men landed with the Shiva-class nuclear missile, and planted it in the sensor hub and set a 2-hour timer.

Eventually, the Spartans were picked up by Delgado in a Pelican and they returned to the remains of the Rubble. All remaining UNSC and insurgent personnel were lead to the Exodus asteroid or aboard the Midsummer Night. The asteroid, powered by slipspace drives, and the frigate escaped into slipspace to escape a large Covenant fleet entering the system.

The Exodus asteroid and the Midsummer Night safely arrived at the 18 Scorpii system. The asteroid’s inhabitants are safely evacuated before the asteroid shakes itself to pieces while in orbit around the human colony of Falaknuma.

Latest Mission
After the Battle of Metisette in 2535, Jai and the rest of Gray Team reported to Falaknuma for debriefing. They planned to ask for (or forcibly take) a Prowler, and continue fighting the Covenant from behind their own lines. Instead, Admiral Preston Cole and Commander Hadley grant them the use of a UNSC Prowler, as the Petya was abandoned in the 23 Librae system. Hadley gave the Spartans new orders to venture even further into enemy lines, much to the satisfaction of the Spartans.

In 2552, Gray Team was far behind Covenant lines and deemed too inaccessible to be recalled to Reach. They were not present when the Covenant invaded the planet, having been out of contact for about a year. Gray Team were the only operational SPARTAN-IIs not present at the Fall of Reach and did not receive the Mark V MJOLNIR armor. Frederic-104 mentioned Gray Team to be missing since 2551. Though this should not be of too much concern, as it has been stated that Gray Team will sometimes disappear on missions for months, or years, to accomplish them.

Commander Hadley: “It doesn’t get any easier, and you’ll be even farther from our lines.”
Jai-006: “That’s the way we like it, sir.”
—Commander Hadley assigned Gray Team to a new mission.

would love to see them back but i doubt it the way the story is at this point.

That was really awesome. Thanks. I don’t remember hearing of them before. Great story.

If you’re interested, you can check out Halo: The Cole Protocol. Great book.

What do you mean Grey Team almost has to come back because the Covenant has been destroyed…which is supposedly what they where doing…so… wtf are they doing now lol… (flying back from deeeeeep space obviously {in cryosleep on autopilot obviously})… … and they don’t conflict with any story arcs… since they have been separate this whole time… Their personalities are intriguing as well and would be great characters for a game

As long as its not so they can kill them off strait away! Looking at you Black Team…

I’d rather they not die off screen or needlessly. Seems to happen to all the cool characters these days.

But we have Thorne. So there’s that.

Do not post discriminatory comments.

I just see so much untapped potential in the Halo universe… and 343i did say they wanted to make Halo for the next 30 years…
If so than they shouldn’t throw away such a jewel like Grey Team… it would seem redundant and dare I say even flat retarded on their part.

Given how things have currently been handled of late, they’ll probably be unceremoniously killed off-screen like Black Team and the Spartan III characters from Ghosts of Onyx >_>

YESYESYESYES. Grey Team is my favorite.

Some of your information might be incorrect sir. Just letting you know…

Sure but its 343, they might bring them back in Gen 2 armor and most likely kill them off.

I hope so!

Another novel with grey team would be great.

What information might that be? Black Team were killed off in Escalation, and the Spartan IIIs from Ghosts of Onyx were killed off in a forum post by Catalog. I’m more than willing to be corrected if I’m wrong, but I have reason to doubt that I am >_>

I would love for them to meet up with Blue Team in the fight against the Created.

At least some of the Spartan IIIs, like Team Saber, survived after “officially” being declared dead, according to Last Light, and I believe I heard that the Spartan IV Corp uses former Spartan III operatives.

Yeah sorry I didn’t see your reply. Last Light was what I was referring to. It gives context to that post by Catalog. Long story short though is that they aren’t dead. I’d recommend reading the book by the way, it’s a great read. Can’t help you with black team though, those blokes really are dead.

thanks sentinel for filling him in, appreciate it.

I’d love them to return. Such great characters.

Halo: The Cole Protocol is my favorite Halo novel, so yes!
