Since Spartan Ops never turned out to be the success 343 wanted, there may be a good chance firefight may return.
Here’s a spin I think 343 should implement into Halo 5. Since Halo 4-6 is the Forerunner Trilogy, they should implement both Forerunner and Covenant enemies into firefight. While the forerunner or covenant are fighting you, they could also fight each other.
I think that would be a cool addition to the series.
I would love to see Firefight back as it would kick the -Yoink!- out of SpOps any day. I chose ‘other’ as a vote, because I want to see Covenant and Promethean enemies in game, but I also want to fight the Flood again and maybe Insurrectionists.

Adding the flood would create total chaos-- I LOVE IT! Should have been a poll option sorry…
What I would love to see is both Spartan Ops and Firefight co-exist.
Spartan Ops was referred to by 343 as a “second campaign”, and Spartan Ops would come in the form of paid DLC expanding on the Campaign. To access Spartan Ops, you would head into the Campaign menu which would be split into two; Reclaimer Saga and Spartan Ops. Rather than Spartan Ops trying to be a mixture of both Firefight and Campaign, Spartan Ops would focus infinitely more on the Campaign aspect. Spartan Ops will be much more Campaign than Firefight. There would be less levels than the amount of Chapters in Halo 4, but in turn would be much longer and polished.
Firefight would return from Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach. While the customization options would expand off of Reach, the Matchmaking offerings would follow ODST’s formula, where having to survive actually matters. You would earn a significant amount of XP for less deaths.

If your right about Spartan Ops the idea could work. What I didn’t like about Spartan Ops is that all the missions were so random and repetitive in nature. Their main story also doesn’t make much sense. If 343 could implement Spartan Ops into the campaign I would probably get it.

I agree with all points. If we get one long 45 minute mission (on one big map) with in game cutscenes and one standard SpOps cutscenes- that would be amazing! The story would still follow Crimson in-game and Halsey/Jul/Infinity in-episode. Great stuff, and I’d take that over Firefight.
I don’t see us getting both, though. It would take a lot of cash and a lot of time, and 343i don’t exactly have a lot of time. If SpOps comes as paid DLC later in the game’s life span (at least half a year), though, it would be possible. And I would pay a lot for it
Where’s the option for “I don’t want either”? I hate Spartan Ops and I think that Firefight is just a waste of resources. I’d choose Firefight over Spartan Ops, of course, but I really don’t want to see Prometheans in Firefight; they’re horrible, annoying, and just not fun to fight. I’d like to see Flood, though. Customization is the key. Reach had terrible Firefight customization.

Ok then, what’s your suggestion for co-op gamemode then?

I think that the time and resources spent on Firefight or Spartan Ops could be better spent on improving the other aspects of the game, such as the UI, the Campaign, Matchmaking, Custom Games, Theatre, File Share, and Forge, as well as tidying up glitches and overall polishing. Halo 4 is definitely suffering in those areas.
They could improve Spartan Ops, of course, but instead of that, why wouldn’t they just significantly improve the Campaign, which after the disappointments and severe flaws of Halo 2, Halo 3, Reach, and Halo 4, definitely needs it? Halo 4’s Campaign was especially lacking, with all that random, out of context babble and most of the important narrative and plot points stuffed inside the terminals, Spartan Ops, and extended media. It was a nonsensical mess.
I want big vehicle battles for Firefight. In Reach, the only vehicles you could drive were the Warthog (useless unless you had another player, or friendly AI like on Installation 04) the Ghost, and the Wraith.
I want more. I want to drive the Banshee in Firefight; I want the Falcon, too. I want the Scorpion, the Revenant, the Chopper, the Mantis… all of them. I want lots of enemy vehicles to blow up too when I get behind the wheel of a powerhouse like the Scorpion, Mantis, or Gauss 'Hog. I want to blow up Phantoms, Scarabs, and Liches.
I’d like to see the kind of huge vehicle battles from the campaign in Firefight; like those we see on “The Ark”, or the kind of aerial combat we see in “New Alexandria”. You get the idea…

> Agreed. I like the story-driven aspect of spops, but want the customization options of ff. Too much to ask for???
If Done right, Spartan Ops can be used as a means to tell the story between Halo 4 and Halo 5, it’s a campaign, it should be treated in a similar fashion.
Firefight is a great coop mode where it has no story, only a mission, and this is what makes it fun, and I see no reason what the two game modes can’t stay.
But there are those of us who see that both fire fight and spartan ops are both modes that are a waste of time, and I really don’t understand why, but part of me thinks it’s because they’re people who enjoy Player vs Player game modes, and any other game mode shouldn’t be bothered with, because they don’t feel it’s worth anyone’s time.
