So you think it’s okay to act like an angry child, swearing up and down while borderline insulting me personally in what should be a discussion? Okay. Pump your chest some more then, celestis, I don’t have time or interest for it.

I haven’t seen anything comprehensive on all games. However, you might be interested in this comparison between Halo 3 MLG and Halo 5 HCS if you haven’t seen it yet (keeping in mind that Halo 3 MLG had 110% movement speed). Also, while not exactly match lengths, you might also be interested in a quick and dirty comparison of kills per minute per player between Halo CE and Halo 5 I made here.
I’ve been thinking of doing something more comprehensive, but I haven’t had the time, and I don’t know how to approach it properly. Pro level matches are the only thing we have access to across all games—since MCC doesn’t seem to make match histories public—but aren’t necessarily representative of a match between average players when it comes to pace.

This discussion needs to stay relevant. It’s too important for the future of Halo. Classic movement needs to return. This DOESN’T mean slow movement, like base H3.
Fast base movement speed (without sprinting) would keep Halo Halo. This would lead to a whole bunch of benefits for Halo’s playstyle. Maps could be smaller and better designed as you don’t have to account for all the nonsense mechanics. Always having your gun up while moving creates a certain type of gameplay, and that has been forgotten in the newest Halo’s. Skilled jumps would be a thing again. Map positioning and control would become a big factor again. You can still include sprint and armor/spartan ablities, you just need to have them as powerups on the map to be fought over. Overall, this would simplify and streamline Halo again, emphasizing its gunplay.

There are more skilled jumps in Halo 5 than any other Halo title. Spring Jump, Crouch Jump, Ghost Jump, Super Jump, Ghandi Hop, Thrust Jump, Thrust Bounce, Bump Jump, I probably missing a whole lot more. Map positioning and control is still a big factor and Halo is still Halo.

Halo is Halo when movement and combat exist simultaneously, without having to give up one for the other. This is the arena formula that Halo perfected in its own right.

Simultaneous movement and combat isn’t Halo. Halo is a ring.

Why be intentionally dense? It doesn’t provide any value to the discussion.

So Halo isn’t a ring? My point is Halo will always be Halo until it isn’t Halo. You get it?

Thank you!
A real Halo game reduced to a yoinking mobile game. Wow. Can you guys even imagine something like that? Seriously, sometimes I don’t believe the nonsense written down on this treads. If MS did something like this, than the whole Xbox brand would die over night! Waypoint at the same time would be overturned by “don’t you guys have phones?” memes! Self-made gaming apocalypse!
I wouldn’t mind sprint staying in too much (I liked what they did in H5 with your shields not recharging while sprinting), but I’m not a fan of the other spartan abilities (thruster pack, ground pound, etc.). Preferably I’d like for an almost complete return to the classic movement mechanics, but maybe with a higher BMS and such.

He’s discussing the Halo franchise’s iconic gameplay mechanics. Not the dictionary definition. Otherwise no one ever actually talks about CoD, but about a feeling you get when being 'murican. No one talks about the Injustice games, but about injust actions. Don’t be an idiot, you know what you’re doing.

I’d prefer that over 4 or 5’s mechanics. As for BMS I’ve never heard anyone wanting 3’s BMS, that people can generally agree on.

Exactly. The field of view makes Halo 3 feel very slow, it’s especially noticable after play other Halo games. A field of view slider in Halo Infinite would be a welcome addition for me.

Also, more compact maps. If we went back to how maps were designed in the original trilogy, really, anything beyond the Halo 5 base movement speed would be excessive.
Halo so I wasn’t talking about the dictionary definition. What do you mean by “Don’t be an idiot, you know what your doing.”? Is that a very constructive post? What I’m saying is Halo, the game will always be Halo, the game until it is renamed or done. Now can we return to the original topic?

So you’re unintentionally being dense? I get it now. No worries. In any case, we’re talking about the mechanics of what makes Halo’s gameplay unique and makes the game feel/play a certain way. The fact that it’s name is still the same is meaningless and irrelevant to the discussion. It’s clear that you’ll accept anything given to you with the “Halo” tag slapped on, and that’s fine. If you’ve enjoyed the newer Halo’s great. More power to you. I, and many other players, want Halo to stay true to its once unique arena gameplay.
