I think the fact that the teaser showed massive spartans making the ground shake, making the radio fall over, submersed in water, walking slowly across a beach, basically confirms a return to classic move set with an emphasis on the “tankiness” of the spartans. Here is to hoping that movement is more about momentum and making clutch jumps or even grenade jumps AKA classic Halo. I’m excited, for sure.

That was an animal, you can clearly see from the shadow. By the looks of it, it’s one of the rhinos.

Again, not a Spartan. Unclear whether it’s just a submarine or a Forerunner construct (probably the former), but it’s not a Spartan.

Those are the three marines, shown in the very next scene, not Spartans.
Competitive players mostly like classic movement. So why cant we have HCS playlist and social classic playlist with classic playstyle. Campaign, Warzone, BTB and rest can have as much of abilities as they want. Everybody happy!

I wouldn’t be happy. I really like BTB and hate enhanced mobility mechanics. I would hate for BTB to be bogged down with enhanced mobility mechanics and abilities.
I prefer the enhanced movement. I know 343i was toying the notion of removing spartan charge and ground pound, and I’m good with it. I like sprint and thruster, I like slide, and stabilize, I even like ADS; yes I know, its sacrilege. But I’ve been a long time Halo fan. Even bought The Fall of Reach back when CE came out. But I love always wanted my spartan to feel like a super hero, to feel stronger, faster, and a more capable warrior as they always were depicted in the books. So the H5 mechanics felt good to me.
Just take spartan charges and ground pound, but leave the rest. I’ll be happy. But that’s my opinion.

Semantics, but it’s four marines, one is probably injured and is helped along by one of the unscratched ones.

Fair point. I was aware of the injured marine in the third scene, but somehow missed him and his shadow in the previous two and failed to make the connection.

Dreams…decimated
As of right now I don’t care if they bring Phat classic movement mechanics as long as they don’t bring in that garbage bullet mechanics from Halo 3 it’s too unreliable for a balance game.
There will prob be a mix of sprint and no sprint, MAYBE armor abilities… I want it more simplified, less armor abilities at the least.
Please just get rid of sprint and increase the base movement speed. There’s no point keeping a mechanic that has done nothing for Halo except split the community.

> I know, I know, I like the new mechanics too, it’s just that the look of the trailer screams to me that Halo is going really far back to its roots, but I could just be jumping to conclusions. One can hope, can’t he? I’ll give the title a question mark to symbolize the doubt you caused me.
So you cant go back to old school game mechanics? Going to be honest here reach was what brought sprint in the first place. I understand the love for sprint and the want and need to have it. But lets be realistic here. While reach was a good game. And I adored its story and I adored the gameplay. Sprint prior to reach never existed. It also was detrimental to the game and brought with it a COD style gameplay. That was the beginning stage of it. Halo 5 then totally revamped from classic halo to more of a call of duty. That has never been halo or was and most players will say. Halo 2 and 3 were the best of the halo games. And adored the old game mechanics. While I wouldent mind a faster base movement speed I will say sprint shouldn’t be in halo.

I timed it. My argument and stance are also in the video.

What the blazes are you on about? You can still shoot your weapon in any direction while jumping. And no, there were some ledges that you could not just “jump” to; that’s why grenade jumping and Spartan jumping was a thing.

> Warzone kinda muddies things though, so you can just spawn OP stuff in without really earning it through fighting other players for it, but whatever.
You absolutely have to earn the REQ cards that you put into play. You don’t just start the match with a tank! Haters are just gonna hate…

> Considering Halo is the flagship xbox game, that’s bottoming out,
Going with games of Halo’s gametype (and one’s that have multiplayer), Halo 5 is 7th. That’s damn near iconic, and is still a long way from “bottoming out”. Especially considering the recent trend of games like Overwatch and PUBG, or survival games like ARK: SE and soon Fallout 76. None of which Halo are, or should be.
Also, according to Halo Tracker (which notes that it only tracks players who are on Halo tracker, not every person who plays Halo 5), there are still a lot of players. 253,633 in Doubles, 32,568 in Elimination, 200,125 in FFA, 236,161 in HCS 2018, 393,468 in Slayer, 340,360 in SWAT, and 317,00 in Team Arena. That doesn’t even include numbers from Warzone, or Warzone Firefight. All game types have sufficient population so that finding a game is never an issue, and never takes long. Nor do those numbers take into consideration players who play the campaign, and have little interest in Multiplayer. Halo is a multi-faceted game franchise, and you can’t just look at one single piece to determine that it’s “bottomed out”.

This right here. Agree 1000%. Bring back the classic halo gameplay
Honestly I don’t mind advanced movement as long as the sandbox is built for it. Sprint, clamber, and thrust can be great components to the game as long as the game is built around them.
However, Spartan charge is garbage and I want it gone.

Your quote button seems to have left out this part
> 2533274795123910;74:
> BMS and sprint aren’t that far apart in terms of speed. As far as how long it takes to get places, it’s down to map design based on the mechanics implemented. Sprint isn’t going to get you places faster than intended, clamber isn’t going to get you over walls and up places you’re not supposed to get up to.
>
> Whatever issues there were with Halo 3’s speed / sensation of speed is far easier fixed with other options rather than implementing a game changing mechanic like sprint. **I’m fairly certain Halo 5 has a different FoV, different acceleration values, map design ideas, aiming mechanics and whatever else contribute to a sense of going fast, not counting the advanced movement mechanics.**So basically it comes down to the gameplay these advanced movement mechanics offer.
You claim sprint has saved your head many times, going then to assume you were in a bad spot. So that would mean sprint is a reliable mechanic to escape with, then again, you say it’s not reliable.
Do you remember why sprint was nerfed from Halo 4 to Halo 5? And what kind of nerf it was?
It was done to decrease the chance of escaping with sprint from an engagement, the nerf was shields not starting to recharge when you start sprinting.
Between the Halo 5 beta and the retail version, BMS was increased and the delta between BMS and sprint was decreased.
Sprint as a prerequisite for slide is just how i343 implemented sliding.
Slide could easily be implemented without sprint, or outside of sprint.
Just have full forward momentum and then hold / press the crouch button depending on your crouch settings, and you’d slide. Sprint not required.
Same could be done with Spartan Charge.
If one of its points is to be an evasive mechanic, in some circuits it’s regarded as a lowered skill gap, which has been nerfed directly and indirectly, and map design dictate your time to travel, what use is there for it?
Personally I would prefer classic movement, but sprint won’t be a deal breaker for me. For me, it would be most ideal if we just had no sprint but had a higher base movement speed, just a little faster than in Halo 2. If we move as slow as we did in Halo 3, then it would be problematic.

Halo CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3 have the same BMS. The difference between the titles was the FoV, possibly movement accelerations, and potentially changes in map design.
