John’s armor was indeed evolving until Halo 4 where it was randomly redesigned without explanation for the sake of redesigning
If anything, 343’s art style is the most kiddish interpertation of Halo yet.
This has nothing to do with classic movement
the use of ‘lol’ and ‘i’m 33 years old’ don’t go well together

In Halo CE there were literally rooms covered in blood and enemies spewed out a ton of blood when you shot them and you think that Halo has gotten more mature?! Halo 5 has virtually no boood at all and it’s rated T. On top of the lack of blood, everything in the new games looks like it’s made out of plastic to the point where some maps look like playgrounds and spartans look like Power Rangers.

Lots of blood doesn’t really imply “maturity.” Halo 3 had the least amount of blood before Halo 5.
The T rating isn’t end-all be all either. Halo barely deserved the M rating in the first place.

Is it weird that Halo Reach looks better then Halo 5 does lol? Halo 5 looks so cartoony.

M literally stands for mature, so blood does most certainly imply maturity, but it’s not the only thing that gave the other Halos their M ratings. Remember the insane and disturbing ranting of the insane marine on Floodgate in Halo 3, that definitely wouldn’t stand in a T rated game. The flood was the most disturbing thing about Halo by far, and the gruesome detail of the flood is what mainly gave Halo its M rating. The fact that the worst antagonist of the Halo universe can’t exist in Halo 5 because of the T rating is a pretty big deal.
As for Reach, I imagine that the civilian missions were the biggest influence on Reach’s rating, seeing a civilian get their head stomped in by a brute wouldn’t pass in a T rated game.
I prefer the older style of gameplay. I’ve been thinking that, in place of Sprint for getting around, maybe you would automatically get a .25 speed boost automatically if you are running in a straight line for more than 5 seconds. That way it would only help with long distance travel. That wouldn’t interfere with classic map design and gameplay too much, would it? I wonder if 343 could modify and playtest Halo 3 to see what would happen.

Or—and you might want to hold on to something because this might shock you—Halo 5 has a T rating because there is no Flood, rather than the other way around. I know, it may sound like a really revolutionary idea—that the contents of the game can actually determine the rating—but you might be surprised to know that this is how age ratings usually function.
For real though, this has nothing to do with movement mechanics. If you want to discuss ESRB ratings, feel free to migrate this conversation to any one of the “Halo Infinite needs an M rating” threads floating around.

You mean the Flood that is currently not in the series right about now?
You’re making the assumption that a developer first thinks of a rating, and then makes the game around that, instead of the other way around.
Everyone seems to focus so much on what the ESRB says, until they realize that Halo 3 is PEGI 16. Just like Halo 5. Just like every game in the Halo series really.
But that really doesn’t have too much to do with game mechanics. Assassinations still exist and a couple of them in Halo 5 does have Blood. Hopefully they still keep the assassinations optional like right now.

I am well aware of the fact that the flood are absent in Halo 5, but I just wanted to express that I think that it would be a problem for future Halo games to be rated T, because it would mean no flood among other things. And yes, games are rated after they are made, but that means that developers can try to change or remove things from previous games to get a lower rating during development.
As for how ratings relate to movement mechanics, I feel that the way the spartan abilities are inplemented in Halo 5 takes away some of the imersion and feedback by having so little blood. Spartan charge and ground pound are both very fast and very lethal, but they generate very little blood on kills, which for me is unimersive and takes away feedback for landing a hit in the first place. I really don’t like hitmarkers as well because it takes up precious space on the HUD and it gives away unfair information with explosives.

Why does blood make you immersed? It can’t be realism, because for a soldier fully encased in armor you’d expect very little blood to come out. For blunt impacts, you’d expect no blood at all because they don’t even pierce the armor.
In any case, personally, whether there is any blood associated with my movement mechanics is the last thing that concerns me about the movement in Halo Infinite.

Only spartans, and ranger elites, and ranger grunts are fully encased in armor, all other covenant species and their variants are not. As for armor, I don’t think it’s out of the question that an impact powerful enough to kill could at least partially crack armor or at the very least tear the undersuit to allow blood to come out.
I agree with you that it’s not very important, there are definitely more pressing things that I want and when it comes to movement mechanics don’t want in Halo Infinite, but blood certainly wouldn’t hurt.
It’s namely Spartan Charge when it comes to what features from Halo 5 should not make a comeback. Spartan Charge fundamentally changes the flow of shooting matchups SO MUCH, and in not a good way. The fact you can just run up and instantly take someone’s shield down kills any fun momentum in a fight, and makes melee kills feel 10x less special.

> At the very least I want ground pound, spartan charge, and clamber gone in Halo Infinite. Halo 5 gets kind of old and boring. I’m in support of increasing the BM speed and getting rid of sprint. I would actually like to see loadouts return for BTB while keeping 4vs4 similar to Halos 1-3. In my opinion, Halo 4 had the best BTB and Halo CE remains the most competitive. Let’s combine the best of both.
CE definitely has the most pure and simplistic multiplayer, making it the most competitive with the highest skill cap. Most people never played it in its prime its therefore think the pistol is op and the spawns are bad. It’s still my favorite though.

It takes some getting use to it but Halo CE is a lot of fun when everyone is fighting over the power weapon spawns. I’m far from an expert Halo CE player but I know a few tricks. Backpack reload, power weapon spawns, double melee, etc. I’m still bad a grenadeing weapons from the other side of the map and I don’t know spawns very well. The Magnum allows anybody to have a chance even when outnumbered.
Halo 4 had the most enjoyable BTB experience by far. I love the the loadouts, maps, and vehicles. However, Halo 4 4v4 maps are lacking.
I hope Halo Infinite combines the best of both these games. Halo CE=best 4v4 maps. Halo 4=best BTB maps.

That’s my favorite part about CE. If a good enough player is outnumbered, they still have a chance in most 1v2 and even 1v3 (against less skilled players) scenarios due to the 3 shot kill. This isn’t possible with sprint due to the higher aim assist and bullet magnetism that is needed to be able to compensate for shooting at a sprinting player.
For campaign i like the feel of the old movement better. There is a way to make both party’s happy. Make certain levels old movement and other levels new movements with abillitys but keep it with 1 chosen abillity at a time. Not like, “hey look at me with all this crazy stuff like COD” it’s Halo not COD.
For multiplayer give options for certain gametypes. This way its a win win.
I’ve been along time Halo fan, still have my original copy, purchased circa 2001. Still have my original copy of the Fall of Reach, which I’ve read cover to cover over a dozen times.
With that said, I’m a fan of the enhanced movement mechanics of Halo 5. Some of them are gimmicky yes, like spartan charge and ground pound, but for the most part, I enjoyed the hell out of them.
I forsee sprint and slide making a comeback, smart scope, and clamber would be welcomed as well, at least for me.
I really dont want to see a cut and paste, with updated graphics, of Halo 3. Just wouldn’t do the franchise any service. Itd be fan service, for the sake of fan service. A full “return to its roots” just seems like itd be waxing philosophical about the “good old days” of Halo.
I just do see that as a positive, especial when you can have a streamlined enhanced movement/abilities, and still keep Halo, Halo.

Why is it that this always pops up?
Halo 2 was different from Halo CE, and it didn’t include sprint, clamber and so forth. Halo 3 was different from Halo 2 and that again did not add sprint and so forth.
However now when it’s debated about keeping or cutting the current Advanced movement mechanics, very few seem to be afraid of a “Halo 5” clone" in case it’s kept but are quick to distance themselves from a “Halo 3 clone”, as if the developers have exhausted any and all other Creative ideas in existence and are too exhausted to come up with new features to implement into a game which wouldn’t feature Advanced movement, though as mentioned, a fear not displayed with a potential Halo 5 clone, as in that case the developers are teeming with ideas to implement because the ideas well hasn’t dried out?

Well done, that needed to be said. It absolutely bothers me to no end when people say that, likely because they are clamouring for a reason to justify them, because said features espouse more cons than pros and they know that.
