What’s everyone’s opinion on the fact that in game clan support was dropped midway through the series?
I was a very serious clan player in halo 2. It was the competitive aspect i cared for the most. Not only do you care about wins and losses like the other ranking system, but you also have a large group that is dependent on you. This sense of responsibility to help the team creates a very competitive atmosphere. Halo used to have a great space for clans.
I think that if there was some formal setting for clan orginization built in to waypoint or the game, it would solve all of the competitivity issues. Just let serious players play together in groups and compete with other organized groups who wish for the same. I really hope that clans return to halo formally at some point and i think this is an issue that the community should make some noise about. Rather than argue about specs, or arena vs. casual, lets get this done. I think it would solve many of the issues ppl seem to be bothered by.
Microsoft didn’t like it and they are probably not going to put it back in. There a lot of site-based clans that are up there. I know it’s not what you want but, that’s what we have to work with.
NO CLAN’s! I don’t mind a group of people playing together but clan’s are highly annoying and when you join one you may as well surrender your individuality as a gamer. Also the file share will be plagued by “join our clan today!” or “were recruiting for the rainbow warrior’s! join now!” NO CLAN’s.

Well you don’t have to join a clan. But I think with clans Halo will finally be way more team oriented (It always was but it’ hard to organize a bunch of randoms.) As for the file browser it wasn’t that bad. Maybe at best 1/12 pictures were for a clan. Lastly it’ll be a lot easier to get people for customs.
Never got to experience the magic that was Halo 2 MM. But the clan support is something I would like to see. Maybe bring back some of the competetive edje.
Not in the way it was done in Halo 2. Ranked Clan matches imploded on itself when high level clans realized they were getting the short end of the stick when they weren’t getting games when they wanted it.
That, and they can reset their rank whenever they wanted, causing the whole system to be completely pointless. If it is to return, it needs to be well thought out. 343 will need to learn what went wrong, and make it better, instead of slapping it back in only to find out that most players are not going to enjoy playing against people that they clearly shouldn’t be playing with.
I’m going to be honest. I play to win. I enjoy winning.
However, I do have fun just playing the game!
I see a handful of players with matching emblems, armor, and color schemes…I’m intimidated. I start doubting my own team of randoms (and maybe one known friend). Clans are intimidating…until you start to notice…You aren’t being slowed down, waiting for your teammates to do the job for you! o_o
You’re not entirely a Lone Wolf at this moment; You’re a one man/woman army! You have the advantage: They underestimated you. They underestimated the element of SURPRAAAHHHSS!

HAHA… That’s happened to me as well before. But I seriously hope clans only match with other clans, no matter what the search time.
Should there be clan support? Sure. Should they have clan names forcefully affixed onto the end of someones name in a match? FFS, no. I have no idea why but it gets really annoying when I see it all the time. Not only that, your clan is just lost in the sea of others anyway.
I like the idea of a group support. As I tend to play with a smaller group of people all the time, anyways, I think it might work well for us. But should it be the all-out matching clan-tag and emblem sort of clan system? No thanks.
