Fellow Spartans do you think the req system should return in halo 6? I think they should increase the number of reqs you get per match and allow players to actually purchase upgrade and skins. Allow players to buy vehicles and weapons individually from a dedicated screen in the game. Make it so that everything can fairly be unlocked just by playing the game and if Microsoft still wants the pay wall for packs they can keep it I won’t be bothered, what everyone else think?
nope. Why would we want pay to win modes when we could instead get some better features? Also, im glad you wouldnt be bothered by pay to win in a game where theres supposed to be even starts but that doesnt mean everyone else is okay getting garbage
Look I’m not saying i like the pay to win mechanics either and in a perfect world Microsoft wouldn’t put that in their games to begin with. However Microsoft has made a lot of money off that feature and what I’m doing is compromising, let Microsoft keep the packs in the game but also allow players to buy the skins and req equipment they want with In game currency and boost the reward system, that way everyone gets something. That’s called negotiating.
Nobody ever liked the req system. Most people simply tolerated it because it wasn’t as bad as other loot box systems. Chris lee did say that there will not be “real money loot boxes” but who knows what is gonna replace it.

You are basically saying “this thing was bad for Halo but it made money for Microsoft so let’s negotiate with them about whether/how much they should include it in Halo Infinite”. But why do you feel the need to bargain like this? As fans/consumers of Halo games, it’s not our concern how much profit a giant corporation like Microsoft makes. We only need to be concerned with the quality of Halo games.
So instead of trying to negotiate, how about asking for a game which doesn’t sacrifice any quality whatsoever for the sake of their microtransaction money? If they want to make money from microtransactions, then not doing so at the expense of any of the game’s quality shouldn’t be something we have to negotiate for. That’s something we should expect.

That’s how I feel, and especially in a full priced AAA title. If they make a quality game that does not rip off the consumer they will buy it. If I had it my way, there would be no micro transactions, but if they have to add them I would settle for reasonably priced cosmetics, nothing more. When I say reasonable I’m talking 50p to £3.00 max, or 50 cents to $3.00 depending where you are in the world.
They already confirmed that loot boxes wont be in Infinite, I hated req packs.

They confirmed PAID loot boxes would not be in Halo Infinite. It could still have req packs and other aggressive and invasive money making mechanics.

If they had req system in H6, that woukd decline Halo, same with microtransactions. Halo 5’s multiplayer was hated because of microtransactions. I liked the multiplayer in general, better than Halo 4’s MP since it was a copy of cod.

I agree, but I’m simply stating they said no paid loot boxes. They can still have reqs and egregious money making mechanics. Halo Infinite will have micro transactions. It’s my biggest conern.
Asking Microsoft to totally do away with the req system and not it have it featured in halo 6 seems to be far ferched. I just don’t see them doing that, I don’t want them to but unfortunately Microsoft will have some form of the currency system in Halo 6. Maybe not at launch, but at some point I can see them introducing it into the game. Maybe I’m wrong and Microsoft will completely make it the way we want it to with zero microtranactions and make everything earnable in game. Games are more expensive to make nowadays and 60$ isn’t going to make a big profit, how about they increase the price of the game to 75.00$ and have the game be great on its on and complete, that way everyone happy and they won’t need the req system.

I agree, limiting microtransactions to cosmetic items seems like the best option.

It looks like you are conflating the req system with microtransactions. But they are two different things:
- The req system refers to that whole system in Halo 5 where you buy lootboxes, either with in-game currency or real money, which give you weapons and stuff to use in Warzone modes and also a couple of random permanent unlocks such as armor. - Microtransactions refer more generally to the option of spending some money (real money, not in-game currency) on a thing in a video game. When you purchase a req pack in Halo 5 with real money, you have engaged in a microtransaction. However, many video games implement microtransactions without lootboxes or anything resembling a req system. So when you’re talking about the req system and microtransactions in general, it’s important to use the correct terminology because it’s possible to have one without the other. It does indeed seem farfetched to imagine Halo Infinite won’t have microtransactions, and it’s fine with me if it does as long as they aren’t intrusive, but I think it’s much less farfetched to imagine it won’t have a req system. And I hope it doesn’t, for a number of reasons.
The REQ system shouldn’t be in Halo Infinite, I mean, 343 seems to be trying to please halo fans by going back to it’s roots, or at least the art style and story, if 343 really wants to make a good game, they should remove REQs, especially when it comes to armour customization, we want to know what armour we are buying, and not with real money, have us do armour customization with credits or something just like Bungie did in Reach, the REQ system is just another way for them to make money, but the thing is, more often than not, people buy REQ packs and get nothing they wanted so it’s not always worth your money, we do not need REQs

Loot boxes are cancer if that’s the only way to unlock things. I like how Forza 7 did it. It has loot boxes, but you can also buy cars directly so you can save up and get exactly what you want. I would be fine with loot boxes if H6 adopted that system. H5’s system is bad and shouldn’t return.
By the way, paid loot boxes have already been confirmed to not return for H6.

I woukd not want loot boxes at all, it’s like a pay to win. Halo 1-4 and reach didn’t had them and there were balanced as they weren’t pay to win. Reach and 4 had loadouts which i didn’t like.

Loot boxes themselves are not pay to win, giving you the option to buy things with real money that are gameplay intrusive makes it pay to win, which H6 will not have.
Personally no the Req system was terrible if they were to add a system for unlocking armor i would prefer they do it like halo reach and 3 did it perfect systems with little downsides. Some armor could be locked behind difficult achievements and some could be earned by ranking up.
the req system was at least on the edge to pay2win (and you can argue it was already) so i don’t want to see it return. i don’t want MTs at all in the game. and there’s no negotiation. negotiation means a discussion between equals. microsoft doesn’t see players as equals, we’re customers. -Yoink!- wants our money and we can deside if we let milk ourselfs or not. starting to accept these “compromises” just makes the situation worse and worse bc publishers can implement MTs slowly more and more and people will say: “it’s just a bit more, it’s not that bad” until we have a star wars battlefront 2 situation again or even worse.
EA went to far to fast with BF2 and thats brought on the backlash (and that it’s star wars and has a larger audience outside of just gamers).
and thats the secound strategie: make a pretty bad system and make better one the next time which could still be worse than the standard and people will defend it as: “it’s not as bad as it could be”.
starting to accept that or looking for “compromises” as a consumer just helps MTs ruining games and going into a pay2win direction.
just look at the last 10-15 years. what happened? it started with useless horse armour in oblivion. and over the years: slowly more aggressive and intrusive MTs and today MTs are acceptable to some degree.
Stop tip toeing around the problem. no reqs or microtransactions end of…
Microsoft and 343 don’t need the extra money off packs and the idiots who keep buying them should hold themselves accountable for why the gaming industry has gone down the drain.
If they threw away the req system, the longevity of the game would be increased as people will be playing longer to unlock armours etc thus keeping sales of the game going far into the future. Look at reach for example, still thousands of players on that game grinding for the best armour and achievements and i’m sure copies are still being sold and that games like 8/9 years old.
Also, say in an un-ideal world the reqs were to be implemented into Infinite, by them giving you more per match, they would just increase the cost of the packs so it would stay the same as h5 and so people would just buy them instead with $$ and giving 343 the reasons not to remove them…
