The REQ system needs to die.

There’s no reason for the REQ system to be a thing at all. The Micro-transactions have gotten out of control and we don’t benefit from it being In Halo at all. The “free DLC” they gave us was terrible and probably took very minimal effort to produce. Most of the “DLC” maps were just direct copies of maps already in the game, with a new coat of paint. It’s unacceptable to rip us off like this and still have a terrible progression system in the game. This wasn’t having in game currency to support free dlc. This was an early access game that had microtransactions. The REQ system is a scam.

I see no problem with it.

I have no idea why some people here are so obsessed with what other people do with their own money.

Actually one reason they did this is so that we don’t have two separate populations cause of DLC maps. So there goes that.

You don’t need to buy req packs with real money.

We need H6 to have HReach’s credit system

I like the req system overall but disagree with the execution of it. Would much rather see something closer to the Reach system, where it’s a blend of “accomplish these tasks to unlock specific pieces” and “accumulate points to spend on items of your choosing”.

Would you rather have a bunch of DLC Maps that you were required to pay for to get, and then almost never play them in matchmaking?

I agree with you, OP. But you just opened up a big can of worms, because most of the people here are “343 can do no wrong” types.

Not only that, even if they can afford the DLC pack, they may look at it and think its not even worth to buy the DLC pack. This creates an even lower population in the game. I think with what they did here, they put a lot of effort and time to remixing the map, thinking how can it play different. Changing the flow of it. Oh yeah and lets not pretend that Bungie put their old maps in their DLC map packs too. We would have to buy a map pack for some old maps? Here we got it free, but its forged… (can it like be edited already so it can look prettier?)

Please tell me more about how I should feel ripped off about having everything unlocked and access to every map without paying a dime.

It is better to get all the DLC content for free and feel ripped off, than having to pay for it and feel even more ripped off, so you have nothing to complain about.

But if you have ever paid for a req pack, well that was your choice.

NOOO LOL reach’s credit system takes forever!!! The req system is sooo much easier to grind down stuff. Legendary armor in halo 5 would cost so much in Reach’s credits. But its basically 10000 req points for 2 armors… Which is cheap and fast to accumulate.

I don’t think it needs to die, it just needs to be implemented better. A few tweaks here and there and it would be fine really.

Maybe a good balance between unlocking things through commendations and achievements as well as the req system.

Req support terribles updates with clonic maps and features no work.

OP’s post had almost nothing to do with the thread titles other than saying he doesn’t like free stuff. Maybe OP should pay me just for posting?

The req system isn’t that bad IMO… yeah it’s a LONG grind if you don’t buy the packs. It’s lame that every piece of armor is tied into it. Odds are they keep the req system for H6, maybe who knows. But they have already been improving it. Hopefully they have learned now and will make it possible to unlock more armors through game play and not just a roll of the dice. Yeah you try and make the argument that map packs would mean better maps… possibly who knows… the maps darkstar, torque, and tyrant where good IMO… 343 just seems to be incredibly slow with content.

I dunno. Gives me something to work towards. As for the microtransaction thing, I hate the idea of them being in a $60 AAA game, and anyone who bought any is a total sucker. But…those suckers make it so I can get an update every month. So I kinda gotta appreciate them too.

There could be the issue that 343 cant make memorable maps in general, how well received were the H4 map packs? We could debate game play mechanics being the reason for lesser quality maps but that is for another day. Maybe map design and creativity is down in general, who knows.

The warzone maps are great! Diverse and all play different… the arena maps aren’t that great at all… since when did Halo become almost all strictly CQC? None of the maps are very open at all… the community made btb maps where better than the 343 made maps, antifreeze is the worse btb ever made IMO… … the best arena maps to me and torque, tyrant, truth and regret (mind you I only play FFA on them not 4v4). I hope to see more original made arena maps added but I am not holding my breath for that…

You might have a point with the whole “memorable map” thing. I like the maps in this game, don’t get me wrong. I think they play just fine. However, they don’t stand out as “This is the map with the bigass wheel!” or “This one has a campy lift room on the top! (-Yoinking!- Sword Base…)”.
