The Recon or aka halo 3 button layout out needs to come back in Halo 5.
Haven’t seen a post on here or anyone really talking about it but yea it would be nice.
also, what the hell is up with SA’s? b/c it just sounds like AA’s all over again.

This is the next generation system we’re on can’t we just have custom controls yet? Come on already!
mcc has custom controls y wouldnt halo5
I didn’t see anything on the custom controls for MCC just that all controls span each game.

I’m really starting to get pissed of with you using that as an excuse to let anything happen.
Custom Controller Layouts would have been possible on the 360 (as Halo PC ran on Specs weaker than that and allowed for custom controller layouts) so Developers probably have a reason for not including it.

The reason Frankie gave when asked about this was that if people could swap over triggers, bumpers and buttons freely, it would create an infinite (well, not really but close enough) number of permutations on how a controller could operate, leading to an infinite number of possible BXR-style button combos, which in preset controller configurations are removable due to the comparatively small number of possible options. Having that many button combos wouldn’t even be skilful, it would just turn matchmaking into a glitch-fest.
OP: I hated the recon control scheme and only used it in H3 because there was no better alternative, so I don’t really have much to say on the matter, but just to everybody in general, could we please stop saying that Halo 5 “needs” everything? None of these minor things are going to affect the game massively if the rest of it is good.
Bumper Jumper all the way brah

This can be resolved by limiting the mapping to a certain set of buttons. Whether weapon swapping is on Y or B is irrelevant with respect to combos as you can’t do either one any faster than the other.
All I want to be able to do is blend Boxer and Bumper Jumper. I think most who want “custom” layouts want something similar.

In many cases I would agree with you, however that is in no way true for this conversation. Controller options can make or break a game. If there are no options that someone enjoys using then immediately their connection to the game is weakened and their experience will never be as good as it could have been.

I suppose you may have a point. Perhaps it’s why I never saw H3 as the golden god everybody else saw it as, but I liked it anyway.

Spartan Abilities are base player traits.
Dual wielding and boarding are Spartan Abilities.
Was there no Recon layout in Halo 4? If there was then I really don’t see the need for this thread.
I’d be cool with a fishstick variant with melee on RB, Crouch on right stick and grenade on B.

Anything to brighten your day:) because as you already know, “Its all about You.”
Button layouts should only be available as suggestions.
We should be able to map our controller to do what we want it to. I spiral fractured my trigger finger on my right hand and had to have it surgically repaired. Fast forward a decade and the finger is about half the speed of my left trigger finger. I for one would like to be able to make the switch.
Or or… we can have custom control layouts! This people can choose which layout they feel most comfortable with; In your case you would be able to chose Recon.

Wait couldn’t you just use the SouthPaw layout? It switches the Triggers/Bumpers to the otherside, so you can shoot with your left finger.

No, it’s that it is bad argumentation across the board and you tend to use it a lot believing you actually have a point with it but you really do not.
I to played with Recon
Ya Recon should come back because I think I played some Layout called NORMAL!!! for the longest time
