There has been a lot of disappointment that the Cartographer’s Gift update wasn’t released today. Aside from the fact that we’re getting Forge in the update, there’s another reason why people are so hyped for it. Halo 5 gets boring REALLY fast.
All of the Arena playlists have only Slayer, Strongholds, or CTF. SWAT and Breakout are fun and all, but you can’t just do that all the time. There is a severe lack of variety in Halo 5’s sandbox. With a lack of the most fundamental gametypes that make halo halo, it loses a lot of it’s replayability. Gametypes such as KotH, Oddball, Infection, and race are essential for keeping people coming back to Halo. I’m glad that 343 is choosing to constantly update this game every month, but updating the game with content that are staples to the franchise and labeling it “new content” is not the right way to do things.
Forge, especially Halo 5’s, has nearly infinite possibilities and is what keeps people playing. Spending hours upon hours -Yoinking!- around in Forge is immensely fun. It, along with custom games, is what keeps Halo alive for years. However, after this update I don’t really see what other “big” updates 343 could do. Releasing a few gametypes here and there isn’t enough to keep casual fans on the game and they’ll move on since they’ve played everything the game has to offer.

Well most of those threads weren’t bad when they were first made (I was in most of them), but that was around 12am PST. However, once the forum woke up, it went from anticipation discussion to what is basically just complaining and trolling.

I read what you posted and it’s my fault to be honest. My post wasn’t a direct reply to your post. I was just saying what I thought. I didn’t know if there was a certain time of today that confirms that it won’t come out today.
