Have you ever wondered why bungie didnt implement BR next to the DMR in reach? Its because THEY DONT WORK TOGETHER!
Lets think about a combat scenario where to guys confont eachother in the battlefield the other using the DMR and the other the BR. Both are lets say amazing players who never miss a shot. They both start to shoot eachother and the player using the DMR wins… why? The DMR is semi-automatic and the BR is using burst-fire.
Heres the point: With the DMR you only need one bullet to hit player to do the maximun possible damage and with the BR you need to hit with the hole burst. You see where im getting at? The DMR is WAY too easy to use compared to the DMR. To fix this 343, you must remove at least one of these weapons to make the game even a little bit more balanced or bring back the huge bloom back to the DMR to make it even a little more harder to use.
Well your example is totally flawed to begin with. You say “Both are lets say amazing players who never miss a shot”.
And then your point is “With the DMR you only need one bullet to hit player to do the maximun possible damage and with the BR you need to hit with the hole burst”. But with the example you gave, no one misses a shot, so this doesn’t make sense.
Also this is nonsensical, “The DMR is WAY too easy to use compared to the DMR”.
The whole burst thing is irrelevant. What if the first player missed with their shot, as did the BR with their first bullet and hit with the other 2.
The reason the DMR is OP is because of aim assist and bullet magnetism. End of story. The LR can kill faster than the DMR at range when scoped, but not many people use it. Why, because it has less aim assist and bullet magnetism and is therefore harder to use making it easier to miss shots.
This would be the perfect change for 343 to make. Reduce aim assist and bullet magnetism but leave everything else exactly the same. If the RoF and time to kill remain the same, there wouldn’t be that much for people to complain about the nerf. If they complain they’re basically saying their aim isn’t good enough.
The DMR should have the second slowest RoF out of all primary precision weapons and it should have its range decreased.
If the DMR had a slower RoF, long range encounters would occur less frequently, and if the range was reduced the game wouldn’t resort to taking pot shots from long distances.
When you get into a gun fight with a DMR user whiule you’re using a BR, you both are gonna trade kills since the DMR’s full damage is already recieved and the BR’s damage has to wait for all bullets to hit.
Example: You see an enemy with a DMR while you have a BR. You two start bangity bangin at each other and both of you are one shot. You die first and he dies second because the last 2 bullets were still traveling. (1 bullet can miss leaving him able to recruit back to his team)
