The games problem isn’t aim acceleration, all Halos have had that to some degree, or if it IS part of the problem we can’t accurately tell right now because…The deadzones are messed up.
A deadzone is essentially how far you have to move the stick before it registers movement in game, large deadzones mean more movement is required before the game responds, small deadzones mean even smaller stick movements will be registered. If deadzones are too small, the game is twitchy and responds to every little touch of the stick, if they’re too large, aiming is unresponsive. Halo 5 is the latter.
Deadzone tests have been performed by other users (see; Smash the Nerds in depth thread, which I would link to if I wasn’t on my phone) and have shown that Halo 5’s deadzones are 67% larger than those found in the MCC titles, meaning the aiming system affords us significantly less precision than Halo’s 1-4.
The solution is simple, allow us to tweak the deadzones, either with a slider or with preset values that allow us to calibrate it to the level enjoyed on previous Halo games. GTA5 and Titanfall, among others, offer this exact feature. Everybody wins.
Before anyone tells me I can’t aim, check my last 10 MCC games or my H5 KD/Playlist rankings, I’m far from a bad player but this IS a big issue that 343i needs to get on top of.
