I love the game. I just wish the ranking system wasn’t based on playtime and not skill. We all know it is true, you could get 50 kills an only get say 500 cr. You complete a game, you get at least a 1000 cr.
I now understand the main reason people boost, cheat, etc.
Why Bungie, why
If the ranking system awarded much more credits for skill, wouldn’t that cause people to boost more? (180 kills/0 deaths in grifball anyone?)
It does still award more credits for playing well, but yes, game completion is the main way, and the best imo.

Lol you must be new here.
OT: Stop complaining about the ranking system. You’re bad anyways. If you don’t like it, don’t play it.

I can see you’re going to be here all but five minutes before being banned for such useless comments.
Also, you’re calling him new? Maybe check your profile first.
OT: There is no ranking system in Reach. Even if there was…I can’t even finish the sentence, that’s how bad it is.
I’ve been here for a long time. I don’t just go out and post mad like you do.
Play Arena. There is a real skill ranking system there. It just has a pretty low population because not too many people care about being ranked anymore.
> I’ve been here for a long time. I don’t just go out and post mad like you do.
One whole month ago. Yeah…no.
The game has a ranking system…they just don’t let you publicly see it…it stays behind the scenes determining matchmaking…although in matchups it does make a priority on lower wait times than skill. Instead all you can see from one player to another is a ballpark figure of how long you’ve played the game.
Personally, I liked what was done in Halo 2 with the 1-50. When you started a game, you had a fairly accurate number attached to you based on skill and it was fairly easy to size up your opponents in a glance. you kinda knew who was going to be your competition, who was just there, and who was going to be cannon fodder. You can’t do that with a credit rank system. IMHO they should have both, or something similar…maybe for Halo 4…who knows.
Reach’s progression system isn’t a ranking system. All it shows is a shiny rank in which you complete your matches to increase your progress via CR. Problem is you can do this whether you are god tier MM warrior or someone who plays for fun. Win or lose, you are rewarded for it. A few times, i’ve been rewarded more for losing…
The real ranking system is the Arena but good luck finding a good, similar skilled based matches with it’s low population. No one play’s it for a multitude of reasons including the fact that it means nothing when your rank resets. It’s just for e peen but most players feel they get nothing out of it after waiting 15+ for one uneven match against 1 percent Onyx they could have found in five in another playlist.
It renders bragging about Arena useless as no one cares. IMO, just bringing up the playlist for the lulz bores me to death. No incentive :(.
Its not ranking. Its progression.
The ranking system is hidden.
I think you shouldn’t have to get so many credits to level up past General Grade 4.
The commendations only encourage foul gameplay. Why there isn’t a commendation for winning multiplayer games is beyond me.

I think you just answered your own question…
let me fix it a bit for you…
> Why there isn’t a commendation for winning multiplayer games? because this commendation would only encourage foul gameplay.((edited by rabid kiwi)) .
