Hey guys. Over the past few days, I created a smurf account to track if I could get Onyx in FFA first try, without the stats affecting my main.
Testing Radar
My first game I quit out because I was tired, but 9 games I finished. 1 game counted as a DNF (I actually won it), but everything else counted. Alright, no problem.
So, out of my 10 (The “DNF” didn’t hurt me, so lets ignore it) placement games, I got first place in 9. I won, 1st place, in 9 games. Why did I get put into Gold? I’m clearly no where near their skill level, I didn’t even make this count to smurf.
Fix the ranking system, this seriously shouldn’t be happening. I think a big issue is that it pairs you with people it thinks you should play, but when you beat them, it doesn’t change.
That last game was AR only, in case you wanted to know.

Thats why you continue to play after placing and rank up to where you belong. Then the season after that you will place higher and against people around the same skill.
If you are playing low ranks you are going to place around that rank. You cant expect Onyx from beating silver6’s and Golds

Well whats the tag? Let me loook at the stats and game history? Ive won 2/10 games before and placed Onyx but thats cus i was a high onyx and in my placements i was facing High Onyx to champs.

I updated the OP. I placed Diamond 4 in FFA, and Gold 5 or 6 for warm up Slayer.

The smurf account was created August and I got Gold 6 for my FIRST 10 matches. I updated the OP.
Well thats in August and they have tweaked the ranking system several times since then. I dont remember how it worked then but i see you were matched against onyx players that explains the higher placement. In slayer it looks like you were losing on purpose having 2 kills against silver players i’d say you were trolling or purposely losing on that account.

I was. But I still placed higher then trying to win.
Also, source? 343i doesn’t do periodic tweaks. It’s always in a CU. See literally every bug that’s been in the game since July.

It could have something do with the players you were randomly matched against. It is possible that you were playing against higher ranked opponents than the OP during your 10 placement matches
Most of this got kinda off track. The point itz bullzi or whatever made is the truth of the OP. You simply can’t rank that high in a new account. Even a new playlist will keep you from ranking very high first time around. Ya a 1700 Onyx is the highest one can possible place at. but that’s only for an account who has placed high before. Not with a new account. Yes the ranking system is kinda jacked up. But this isn’t a case of that.
You placed low because of the people you were playing. You didn’t start playing low platinums until the later matches and you DNF’ed out of the game where you played the diamond 1 player which counts as a loss. You did beat low platinums, but I think the game was playing it safe by keeping you in gold.
Your other account that placed diamond 4 was playing platinums and diamonds early on and then later diamonds and onyx players so diamond would seem appropriate. I didn’t look at the slayer games, but I’d imagine the game takes different things into account for slayer.
