The Bulletin about Specializations, as well as the IGN article about them state specifically that Specializations are “end-game content”. It’s stated that once we reach level 50, we’ll be able to enlist in the different branches. As most of you know, buyers of the normal edition only get two Specializations until the rest are unlocked for us. I’m assuming that 343 will unlock the other six Specializations after most of us are expected to be level 50, or else buying the LE would be pointless. For instance, if they unlocked them all after one week, but getting to level 50 takes several months. That just wouldn’t make sense. So, how long will it take us to level up to level 50? Will it take as little as a few days like in Halo 3? Will it be something like reaching Inheritor? In that case, 343 would probably wait a year and a half or so to unlock the Specializations for everyone, so I can’t really see that. I can only assume that the ranking system will be a cross between Reach and Halo 3. Basically a long-term Reach style ranking system, with army ranks (also in Halo 3, but not number-based for progression) and also some competitive rank, involving either a number or some kind of other ranking “class”, similar to ranked Halo 3 playlists.
So, what do you think 343 means by “getting level 50”. Will it be like Halo 3? Can you get it quickly? Will we have to wait a LONG time? Will there be a split ranking system?
Yep, it would have to be like Reach in terms of progressive ranking otherwise you’d exclude 95% of the population that aren’t good enough to get a 50 (yes that’s me ).
I would assume the ranking up is quicker than Reach, I’ve been playing Reach since it came out for maybe 5 or 6 hours a week, and it would prob take me another 2 years to get to Inheritor, so IMO that would be way too long. I would expect to be getting started with specializations within the first 2 months.
Hmm, I actually hope it will take as least as long as Inheritor. I went from Field Marshall to Reclaimer in just 3/4 months (Inheritor 8 months later because I didn’t had XBL anymore). And that was back when the challenges only gave you a few hundred credits. Now you get 5000 credits from the easiest challenges, you got custom challenges, huge Jackpots and a bigger credit cap. So I don’t know why everybody is complaining that it takes too long now. o.O
