The Rank discussion is pointless.

I don’t see the point of visible rank’s at all, is it really that important for someone to see how much skills you have? wasn’t the most important part about the ranking system that you get grouped up with people identical skills?

The worst part about this is that some people have actually started to threaten 343 by not buying the game.

Hell, Wasn’t the most important part about a game the gameplay and the fun you have?

Some people have fun with ranks.

> Some people have fun with ranks.

Some people have fun looking at badges that show’s how good you are and except of that are also pointless?

Yes, they do. How does that interfere with your experience? It doesn’t.

If that’s all you think it is than I won’t even bother trying to explain it to you.

It doesn’t intefere my experience, not at all but it’s just stupid and pointless in my opinion.

I agree. It’s really annoying.

So I can’t have something that I enjoy because you think it’s stupid and pointless?

abd since most of the time you will be grouped with people with similar skills you can just calculate yourself how good you are and expect to fight challenging battle’s.

Some people have fun in forge, others could care less. Some people have fun in campaign, others could care less. We’re all different and enjoy different things. Just because YOU don’t find any value in visible ranks doesn’t make you any better than anyone else, or anyone else less than you. To players who play this game because of the competition and skill involved, rank is very important to a lot of that community.

I bet there is plenty of things that you value about Halo, that I don’t value, and vice versa. We’re all differnet. Am i sitting here telling you you’re stupid for caring about campaign or spartan OPs over a skill based ranking system? No. So please do the same.

I personally don’t care who i get grouped up with as long as i have my rank.

It’s because with all due respect sir, you’re not as competitive as other players and that’s fine but the competitive gamers got what they wanted and so did you casual players. Everyone is happy…

I don’t see why folks like you are so against it. It’s a feature that a certain group of players like to have. Wouldn’t you like for everyone to get what they want? If it’s in then the competitive players are happy. If you’re not a competitive player or just don’t care about rank then it shouldn’t effect you either way.

All people who want it are trying to do is make sure 343 knows that it is something that is wanted. I’m guessing you don’t care either way, so I’m not sure why you care at all.

> It’s because with all due respect sir, you’re not as competitive as other players and that’s fine but the competitive gamers got what they wanted and so did you casual players. Everyone is happy…

No, competitive players aren’t happy. Having a skill based ranking on Waypoint is pointless. It means nothing in Reach and it will mean nothing in Halo 4.

Assuming it’s actually accurate, unlike Reach’s BPR, then I’ll be perfectly content with the system they’ve created.

People are getting pissed off over little -Yoink-, it’s not that bad. I wish everyone would quit -Yoinking!-.

The OP has 30 total games of Halo 3 played and a high skill of 8. No point in trying to explain anything to him, he will never understand.

> People are getting pissed off over little Yoink!, it’s not that bad. I wish everyone would quit -Yoinking!-.

as I said earlier:

Just because it’s not important to you, doesn’t mean it’s not important to other people. Do you think the world would care if video games became illegal? No, there would be thousands, millions of people who would say exactly what you just said about ranks. Some things are more important to some people, some aren’t. Just because it doesn’t affect you doesn’t mean it’s not important or that people are over reacting.

> The OP has 30 total games of Halo 3 played and a high skill of 8. No point in trying to explain anything to him, he will never understand.

You are not helping. The reason we are in this situation is because of attitudes like that which have caused 343 to question ranking, due to people using it as another tool in their elitism. We’re all halo players, some find certain things important, some find others. No one is any better than anyone else and everyone should have a chance to enjoy the game.

You don’t need rank to be competitive. I’m competitive, all i focus on is winning (if you lose, whatever it’s a game) and not once has my shiny, rank helped me win a game. Skill helped me win. All that you get from rank is bragging rights.

This discussion is pointless because skill ranks are in.
