Not only do the primary starting weapons need to be retuned to make for an even playing field in Halo 4, but I also think that the Railgun - a power weapon - needs some slight adjustments to make it more fair and “fixed”.
If you’ve ever played the Team Doubles playlist competitively you know that the Railgun is THE weapon to control. If your team loses it, you are at a severe disadvantage due to the fact that anyone who has the slightest clue of how to play can guarantee a kill with each shot. As of right now, the only effective way of countering someone with a Railgun is either with another power weapon or with timed team shots.
There really isn’t anything wrong with the fact that this weapon requires some strategy to counter, but my problem lies with its ease of use. Shouldn’t a weapon that is a 1-shot kill take some form of difficulty to use effectively? I think an adjustment to the Railgun’s bullet magnetism and aim assist would make this a much more “balanced” power weapon and still retain it’s effectiveness in the hands of a good Halo player.
That being said, there is one more thing that needs to be fixed with the Railgun. Again, if anyone has used this gun consistently, you’ll know what I am referring to here. There are many instances (more than enough for it to be noticeable to me and my friends) that the Railgun’s shot will just be completely nullified; or for lack of a better term: “eaten”. There are many cases where I’ve shot an enemy spartan right in the body directly in front of me and he takes absolutely no damage from my Railgun. This, of course, leads to my death since I heavily relied on that shot to kill the enemy spartan. I’ve noticed this sort of behavior from the Railgun in particular extensively and think it needs to be evaluated.
Well…there you go. Constructive criticism for you, 343.
