“It isn’t Halo” as a criticism to this specifically is the furthest thing from “pretty clear”. It’s like saying because you jump 5 meters as opposed to 7 meters the jump mechanic “isn’t Halo”. It’s really ridiculous.
If you find the range to be lacking, then it is more productive to focus on getting that range extended, rather than whining that it’s “not Halo”. That’s what criticism is - providing useful feedback on fixing problems present. Which I’m betting you’ll find with these instances where you think I’m “complaining”. I can 100% guarantee that until we start seeing Orcs and Elves in the game, you won’t hear me saying it’s “not Halo” just because it bugs me.
And actually I do have better things to do, namely work. Don’t drink too much salt water here, it’s bad for you.
The first two are obvious realities, okay. But your assertion is completely baseless. They did indeed engineer the game to be accessible and playable on day 0 for PC players, but that doesn’t mean the game’s mechanics are completely skewed in their favor by developer choice.
As for the season pass, how else do you think they’re going to make money off of a free-to-play title? Something has to feed them cash or they’ll crash. It’s how businesses work, they can’t make something for nothing.
Tuning mistakes happen. Experiments during a beta to see how the playerbase reacts to certain changes are probably in effect. In case you had forgotten, this is their chance to publicly “test” the game and get it ready for its official launch on December 8th.
Damn right there is. That’s why they can’t screw this up in December, and that’s why they implemented a Band-Aid hotfix for the XP system within 2 days of the complaints. They HAVE to give a -Yoink!- about us, we’re a big part of the reason this franchise isn’t dead.
I think it’s actually been 20m in the past couple of games but the range was also increased in BTB.
I also find that a lot of players are playing on the default F.O.V. and putting it about 100 at least makes the radar feel slightly better
I’m coming here after playing a match and I’m furious, why is the radar complete garbage?!? I have a better time when the radar is off, its unreliable and only time it the enemy comes up is like when they’re like 5 ft away from you. I end up dying trying to rely on it because I think nobody’s around but then there’s someone running around just on the edge of the radar and they’re in melee distance within milliseconds. The radar is supposed to allows you to prepare yourself when someone is close by rushing in your direction or firing, but it doesn’t even do its job so what’s the point of having it on. They need to increase the radar radius.
Maybe go play competitive then? Stay out of classic slayer playlists if you wanna snort Doritos and rely on “free information.” Not everyone has headphones in while playing, not everyone wants to sweat while they play, there’s a playlist for you. A 23-25m range radar is very much needed in this game for casual players. From a game balance perspective, with movement the way it is it’s almost like not even having one.
I’m down for extending the range in social modes but adding it to ranked? Absolutely not down for that. Comp community jumped for joy when ranked settings were announced. It’s supposed to be as competitive as possible. If you’re not 4 stacking, isn’t that what the solo/duo q is for?
Can you name me stuff that doesn’t make Infinite “Halo” then? Cause I’m not seeing much. The core gameplay, design, and atmosphere is there. And that’s pretty much all that matters imo.
Just get good, stop relying on having eyes in the back of your head, the premier competitive settings have never used radar and for good reason. It’s free information and harms map movement.
I don’t have headphones on while playing either. I don’t even like doritos lol, If you really need such a huge radar in the game you really need to re-evaluate how you’re playing. Like, check your corners, don’t just run into open lanes without checking. 18 meters is pretty huge. Tired of radar dominating everything. It slows down the game considerably and creates unfun situations. Much prefer the first flight radar. THAT could be allowed to be large.
But, I do play comp as well as social. Sometimes I’m just not in the mood for the BR starts. But I’m definitely never in the mood for people being just given situational awareness instead of actually paying attention.
Cmon the dorito thing is a joke lol. Yeah of course I’m gonna be defensive about it, it’s and integral portion that contributed to my enjoyment of the game since I was 6… granted I only played HCE campaign when I was a kid, but the radar then was still a good size. I don’t need to re-evaluate anything lol, I’ve always been great at social slayer, if I wanted to be more aware I’d play rainbow 6 siege or competitive. Its okay if you’re frightened by the idea of people having a 25m radar like in the classics, it’s a difficult tool to use for some people and others have mastered it.
