For some reason my radar only alerts me of a player nearby, when they’re stand 5 METERS AWAY! Almost every single time I watch someone sprint up to me without showing up on my radar until they open fire.
To be fair, if someone is sprinting towards you they’re going to be on your radar for a lot less time than walking.
I find radar is usually better for alerting you for people around corners or in the general area around you.
If someone is already near you with a clear opening and you haven’t realised, you’re probably not surviving the encounter anyway.

What game mode you playing? Some game modes dont have the standard 25 meter radars.
I checked the radar in both slayer and super Fiesta, and the both worked about the same. Only showing a red dot when the other player is 5 feet away from you. It could be that the radar just works to slow and it takes a while to register if someone is near. I recall hearing a while ago that the halo 5 radar is only about 18 meters instead of 25 meters.

could be a lot of people crouching, that has happened to me before, or they could be coming at you from above with something like a ground pound, anyway, it has been pretty reliable, but really only use it i CQC kind of situation, outside of that, you’ll want to listen for audio, a sprinting spartan will sound like a soft blowtorch sound when they are nearby. Also, i am pretty sue the largest radar size is warzone, especially with upgraded sensors, and the lowest is in some arena modes, like quick play or something like that, usually, the style of play for that game mode dictates the range, like BTB will probably be larger than quick play, or so I would think.
also, many people don’t know about it, or don’t care, or something like that, but if you press up on the D-pad, you’ll let out a ping, which makes your name visible with a large flashing yellow diamond
