The radar is a game breaker

I’m going to make this short and simple infinte has so much potential to be great after all these years but please 343 hear my words go back to the CLASSIC RADAR that’s legacy halo…. And it needs to be there at launch…. There are several reasons why that I’m not going to list here because several ppl here in the forums have already stated why and they are obvious detrimental reasons for why it needs to be a classic radar… no exceptions…

I’d prepare to be disapointed then spartan less than three months out from launch I don’t think there is going to be changes to fundemental mechanics
blancing issues graphical tweaks, map balancing yeah

Overhauling the entire radar system…not so much

I didn’t know it was such a task to add a red dot to the bottom left corner of the screen ? But please inform me ???

How exaclty is adding a little red dot to the bottom left corner going to do anything?
What does the dot do?
What does it represent?
What triggers it?
How does it appear?
How does it disappear?
at what ranges do they appear and disappear?

The vaugeness and over simplifcation of your comment aside, theres a lot more that goes into it

The game has been built around its mobility and the radar in its current form built around that, its layers and its all interconnected .
Think of it as a house of cards, if you pull or knock that bottom card out the whole thing comes down yeah?

I kinda like the way it is but I just hope that we gain the ability to detect walking Spartans, but only at maybe half the range of sprinting Spartans.

The new radar is fantastic. Best iteration of a radar in the Halo franchise to date.

You show up when you sprint or shoot, great idea. Means you can be a sneaky beaver without slowly crouching and camo actually works for once!

Within the game code, the motion tracker always knows where people are, it just doesn’t always show them based on certain permissions and variables. That’s why people/red dots can suddenly appear in the middle of your motion tracker when they start sprinting. Reverting the motion tracker back to the original way it works should be a very easy fix.

I’m in the minority but I like the new radar system a lot. Could be because I play other FPS titles (in addition to Halo) that doesn’t always have one on and I rely on my awareness and pre aiming every corner and outlet to where I think an enemy will pop up. The way the system is now it provides flanking as a legitimate option by not sprinting and encourages map movement more than just crouching everywhere to get off the grid. Might get flamed for this comment but that’s fine yet I understand why people want the old radar system too… it’s been a tried and true formula to the identity of halo for 20+ years. However, I think this is better and now adds map awareness as more of a critical attribute to a players skill level.

You’d think that, but its also built around the mobility, BMS sprint clamber slide, maps are designed arond these things as well…
This far into development, I think its here to stay
Reverting it back to the old system does more then just allow you to be on rader while moving, the entire game will have to be redesigned around that one change…

Could be wrong, but farly certain I’m not

Yeah it definitely needs to make its return in social playlists. If ppl like it for more competitive game modes then by all means keep it.

The base games needs to feel like halo and the current radar changes the gameplay to much imo.

Also it wouldn’t be very hard for them to toggle a switch or rewrite the code that fixes these issues. Maps are fine, gameplay is fine and it won’t hurt the game to revert to old settings.

This radar is definitely going to be the new divide in the community lol.

I think we need a PvP demo with a larger population before making a decision.

People be like “Sprint does not belong in Halo. ADS does not belong in Halo.”
People also be like “The new radar is good because every other shooter does it this way too.”

“Motion” tracker needs to show moving enemies, that’s the whole reason why it exists. There have usually been specific gamemodes for no radar.
This would be less weird in a game with proper sprint, but I still never felt a need for it even there, and now they are almost getting rid of sprint which makes this change to the motion tracker silly.

Crouching to stay off the tracker was a trade-off for speed, but that now no longer exists, and you can now move at basically full speed, without showing up. There’s very little reason to sprint, so you’ll mostly just show up when you shoot.

Of course, this change has been made to make the motion tracker of Halo more like the minimap of other FPS games, which’ll make it easier for new players to adapt to.

Not to mention grenade hitmarkers, heatwave, and threat sensor are designed to combat people who are off the radar (camping or not sprinting/sliding)

I prefer classic radar but I am open to learning something new, and am still excited to see how infinite will play for the next generation.

i don’t know… skimming everyone, it was an old build, its likely they’ve already adjusted it, but as is… i can’t see a reason to sprint or crouch, unless crouching improves aim like i always assumed, and I’m not saying i don’t sprint, i do. but crouching not being for sneaking with the radar? it also sounds like a common game setup option next to radar range, “radar sensitivity: loose / tight / off”

It’s almost like the entire community repeatedly requests that they don’t change the things that make Halo Halo and they go out of their way to ignore us…

Objective games where everybody who isn’t shooting is stealth on the radar while moving at full speed… yeah that’s gonna suck…

I never liked the Halo radar except from CE because it was mostly tuned OFF. The radar is reducing players skill gap, it’s kind of a 2D wallhack, you must play more carefuly.

Less aim assist, no OP radar, they want Halo to be way more about pre shoting & good aiming.

Halo has always been about that… What you’re going to get is assassinated annoyingly all the time because you can’t detect people coming up behind you at full speed.
