I was just curious how other people felt about the req system. I enjoy it and dislike it at the same time. On one hand it makes the game more varied, you don’t see everyone wearing the same armor all the time because the peices you get are up to chance. on the other hand I want what I worked for I dont want to spend points on a pack that i might possibly maybe get something cool out of.
I can see the potential in the system but they implemented it so very poorly. The way it should have worked is like this… First off every one should have automatically has the base unsc load out weapons, the pistol, AR, SMG, BR, and even the DMR. Then all the attachment versions would be in the req system. Then I would have had the packs seperated by, cosmetics, weapons, and vehicle packs so you at least have a better idea and chance of getting what you want. But I would also would have made it to unlock the the next tier weapon you would have to complete different levels of that weapon’s commendation. Basically if you open a weapon pack and it grants you the fuel rod unlock you would have to get say 200 kills with it to unlock light of ours and then say get 400 kills to unlock pool of riddance… Then with cosmetics there would be more you can earn through game play and other stuff and that would the only way to get them. Like completing campaign on legendary and get a particular armor set, complete par time on a level and get a visor…stuff like that. The req system is so bloated there really was no reason it couldn’t have been more like that.
Personally I like it, but I also started the game really late. About 3 months ago or so.
The main issue for me was that there are just so many bad unlocks. Like why would I want 40 different AR’s consisting of every combination of scope and “perk” (idk what to call it).

> That would have been a great way to do it honestly. That’s kind of what I was trying to get at (not so eloquently I might add) it’s not a terrible system, it just kinda seems half baked and not fully realized. This is why I’m happy that 343 is taking feedback from the community while making infinite.

There’s a ton of useless unlocks for the sake of “lots of content” but in that effort they watered down the Req system
I hate it 100%. Had this game since 2017 and still haven’t unlocked the H2BR. Once I get the H2BR I’ll be happy and probably never open another req pack again.

Well you are SR145 you should be really close to it. I know it was really close to my last few unlocks.

2 years later? Really?

Well I bet you didn’t open silvers first exclusively then golds so it’s probably been a bit longer pack grind for you. Most seemed to have their pack grind done by SR145 or SR146.

I’m not a fan of it. To save myself the trouble of explaining it again, I will quote my own words from a different thread:
> I’m one of those people who thinks Halo Infinite wouldn’t be missing anything if they trashed the req system, along with Warzone and the millions of weapon and vehicle variants. And if you think we’d be missing something by trashing a specific variant, then just make it into its own thing. Miss the Blood of Suban? Then just add a Needle Rifle. No variants necessary.
>
> Now onto my other points: I don’t care as much about how armor is unlocked (though I will just say achievement-based unlocks were fun), but I strongly dislike the idea of weapons and vehicles coming from lootboxes rather than being map pickups. Being able to gain an advantage because you’ve amassed a pile of strong weapons and vehicles and powerups is inherently unfair to newer players. Offering a “new Spartan recruit pack” for $10 or whatever doesn’t change that. And yes Warzone is kind of popular in Halo 5 but I actually think that has more to do with it being the only place with large, open maps and heavy vehicle and weapon play, which Halo 5’s regular BTB has always mostly lacked (at least until Big Team Super Fiesta).
>
> Not to mention, this system of collecting reqs has also led to annoying situations where new players without many reqs join Mythic Warzone Firefight and become dead weight to their team, which will be an unavoidable problem in any sort of difficult cooperative PvE mode involving reqs, short of banning lower-ranked players from playing it.
>
> So anyway, as long as BTB doesn’t get neglected in favor of Warzone again, and the whole game doesn’t get designed around maximizing the likelihood of players purchasing req packs, and 343’s priorities when designing armor and cosmetics don’t get shifted towards quantity over quality, which are all things that I can confidently say were caused by the req system, then I at least wouldn’t mind it being in Halo Infinite because I’d be able to ignore it and play BTB instead of Warzone. But I still don’t think it was something that improved Halo.
So basically OP, you are talking about the req system in terms of unlocking cosmetics. Like yeah it’s nice that not everyone wears the same armor, though it is annoying to have to pray to the RNG gods to get what you want. I understand that, and I kind of feel the same way.
But let’s look at the bigger picture and consider how the req system has affected different aspects of Halo 5 such as gameplay. It’s pretty clear that 343 intended for Warzone to be the successor and replacement for BTB, and that alone makes me strongly dislike the req system.

You’re right, I started with bronze…

Well going by your SR you should be pretty close to then of your pack grind. I can say for me I didn’t unlock the H2BR till like the second to last pack …the phaeton Helios was my last unlock.
