SO as far as I can tell how well you are doing doesn’t have very much affect upon your csr.
I say this due to matches where you go +10 or more and you still go down because you lost the match. To a point it seems like it helps you get your initial rank but after that you are at the mercy of your teams performance.
I did get my first onyx sadly in a playlist I enjoy the least because I like team play.
Thought this was worth putting up to see if anyone else was noticing the same issue or if that is actually how its supposed to work. Either way it will be interesting getting those higher ranks with team oriented playlists.

Yes but the system is based on W/L so to get onyx you need to play as a team in the team playlists, really otherwise it is purely based on some luck as to which team you get matched on. I mean sure if your good enough going solo you can still make but you just need a bit of luck on your side to and hope the teammates you get aren’t duds.
So personally yeah I think the ranking system is fine the way it is, if you want to get better and reach onyx sorry but you will have to find some other people who you play well with and go in as a team.

Yup seems to be the only way it will really work out, its alright though just gotta keep looking
i was able to reach onyx in swat playing with a team, if you try to do that solo you have to pray that your teammates are good enough all the time.

If you’re even a slightly above average player, play swat. I never play swat and have always been a decent halo player. Reached Onyx with just the placement matches. My friend who also played and had like a 0.8 k/d reached onyx as well. Probably the easiest playlist to get Onyx.

Yeah isn’t that because Swat is broken though for some reason? Just about everyone seems to be getting Onyx in either Swat or FFA no matter how badly they do. Those two playlists seem a bit -Yoinked!- up in terms of the ranking.

See I agree with the swat end here because I have seen players who can’t get more than 2 kills at Onyx.
Free for all though makes a bit more sense, because it is based on wins If you remember lone wolves in h3 you got a “win” if you were top three. so that kinda makes some sense why you may not be amazing but still get onyx.

It does seem like it takes more wins to go up than it takes to go down with a lose.
I think what bothers me is winning three games go up once, play well in each, 4th match lose by two kills or something close like that, still do well and down rank.
Free for all is the only place where ranking actually matters. Team arena does not match teams of people partied up against other teams partied up, so the rank in team slayer is BS in my opinion. Numerous times I’ve seen onyx player at the bottom of the match scoreboard.
Talking to one guy I voiced my opinion he should be silver not onyx. He corrected me and said he should be bronze but he’s been carried since release. Team arena ranking is BS as luck is a factor that your the extra in a team that play in a party vs 4 random. free for all is a simple case of who is the better player.

I agree to an extent with what your saying though free for all is also extremely easy to win if you just run around and snake kills from people not much skill in that aspect but what your saying about people getting carried i defiantly get that it was what bothered me about a month ago seeing these teams with one good player who carries his two buddies up to diamond or onyx ( and his teammates might have just started playing halo honestly, shooting walls and slow turning around corners ect )

Ranking up/down is the same. If you have waypoint open while your playing you can track your progress.
For what ever reason I started off in silver for breakout and low gold for slayer and I had no problem climbing up to platinum, but I have hit a wall now. People quit like crazy, I get put with unranked players, or the other team just dominates bad. Last night I lost 4 or 5 in a row (slayer) and for whatever reason I just got smashed. After the last game I said you know what I’m done for the night, I have never had that happen to me before. I started plat 3 and now im back to plat 1. I did play with a few new people from the company last night, but still the beatings that were happening were just ridiculous, not even close to being games. Maybe I was just having an off night thought, I’ll find out when I play next time.
It is a bit annoying yes but at least the amount you go up or down is based on rank. If you lose to a team of pros, youll go down a lot less than if you lost to silvers. Assuming your platinum in said example
