Many games in recent years host "Beta"s to get people hyped for the game, these Betas are more and more becoming Demos to advertise their game.
Halo 4 is rumored to come out in late 2012, around the holidays. Halo games usually come out anywhere from September - November at the latest, so that is about a 9 month window of development if Halo 4 comes out in September.
I don’t know how 343i runs things of course bur I feel we will here about a beta in a month or 2. 343i can test servers, etc and still have 6-7 months of development.
I am also hoping that 343i will use Halo Waypoint to host their Beta. Like a download link for it that then can be launched on our xbox games menu. I am personally hoping 343i goes this route becuase I don’t want to buy a cod game for example to get into the Halo 4 beta.
What are your thoughts on a potential Halo 4 Beta, ideas?
The thing I don’t get is BETA’s are partially to test the servers, yet when the game comes out it crashes for the first few hours. I don’t really get it…

That is due to the millions of people on at once as the servers are being set up. It happens with many games, but BETAs make it less likely to happen.
I am excited for a Halo 4 beta and see what 343i has been doing with the halo series and I am hopefully we will receive new info in a month or 2. Becuase once they collect and interpret all that data in game on the forums, they have to make changes.
Hopefully it won’t be with an expensive $60 game…I’d rather do something on Halo Waypoint, like download something, post/update your e-mail, or some other.
