The progression system will kill the game before it even launches

I believe 343 has said they like this idea of a separate career progress and are hoping to implement it, but is something that will take a lot of effort from many teams, so don’t expect it till at least season 2, maybe even later.

Yeah, I liked MCC’s progression much more.

a “seperate progression system” isn’t whats needed
The way you earn exp in thje battlepass is hwhat needs to change

I’m enjoying the Multiplayer learning the new maps & having hands on some of the weapons that weren’t in the flight but the Progression is killing it for me, 15 matches to hit level 1 then Level 2 it took another 10 matches, lack of match Xp is not fun

I never said it was the solution. I was responding to someone saying they would like this type of progress as well.

The issue here is that it’s changing how people play. It’s ruining the objective modes and really compromising the slayer modes. This will kill the game more than anything else if they don’t change it.

I’m unable to play for a few days since I’m not currently home but y’all making me feel a lot better. Haha.

But I agree with the points made in here. There should be XP gains per match and a global XP rank that is similar to previous Halos. 5-Star Generals meant something back in the day. Didn’t mean you were the best but it was certainly respectable.

Same goes for MCC. Blue ranks are nice to see. I think the community wants something like this in Infinite so they can feel like each game rewards them, regardless of if challenges are completed or not.

My friends are already starting to quit. And if nothing is done ASAP, not the next battle pass, I and many other will quit too. Been playing most of the day and I’m only level 3. And there’s over 150 levels to get?! 343, you have almost everything nailed perfectly here - but this progression system will be the death of Infinite multiplayer. Don’t wait till the next season pass, because word of mouth alone will kill any chance of people jumping back on to your game. Please for the love of god fix this.

thats a stupid attitude. Me prsonally I couldnt care less about progression. I play game to have fun. Not to unlock stuff. I used to have ton of fun in MP games like UT, HL. We didnt even have stats back then… and I was playing all day long. Oh yeah the good old days…

Thank Halo heaven there is no way for me to know how many hours I’ve spent playing Halo CE. In all that time I never unlocked a single thing.

Maybe you don’t care about it, and honestly good for you. I know for me and a lot of others (most?) seeing those numbers go up matters for some reason. In MCC every week I rush to get the challenges done, THEN I can relax and play the game. Devs know this. It’s why they put those challenges in the game to begin with. The system in Infinite is easily the most predatory, unrewarding progression system I’ve ever seen.

The thing is, basically every battle pass is time gated. In Destiny you get bonus xp for the first 5 levels every week. MCC straight up limits your progression to 12 levels a week. Those are both 10x better systems though because they do not interfere with how everyone plays the game, and in since cases give you tangible rewards for just playing. Infinite is the opposite. It quickly starts punishing you by dragging out the daily bounties while also not upping the rewards. Almost immediately you’re doing 2x, 3x or 4x the work for the same pay-out.

The worst part is that we warned them of this during the flight. ALL of my friends noticed this last night and are very discouraged. Many played for 6 hours straight, and only got up to level ONE (two at most) because they got screwed by the challenges. And the exp boosts make ZERO sense without match xp. If you don’t finish a challenge, you just wasted a boost. This insane grind WILL discourage many people from playing what is a fun game.

Agree with OP. All 343 needed to do was build off the MCC challenge system and update it, but instead they gave us this terrible system that rewards players 100xp.

Players should earn XP for their performance, finishing a match and overall just playing. The challenges should be for supplementing the XP you earn for playing with bonus XP like 1000XP and higher not 100XP as the only way to level up. They can keep the weekly challenge to earn an unlock for completing them all, but beyond that I feel the system really stinks.

110%. I would rather they hard limit the gains to however many levels per week, either 12 like MCC or some other arbitrary number I don’t really care. But the system in place now feels bad. Let me get the challenges out of the way so I can start enjoying the game for what it is: amazing,

100% agree here. Just played for three hours. Game felt great, easy to get back into, almost like muscle memory from previous halo games. Loved it.

HOWEVER I felt like there was no reward at all for my time. Even when I topped the kills list or our team won the round… there’s no real feeling of accomplishment. I purchased the battles pass and feel kinda silly for doing so now.

I’m pumped for this game but sadly if it doesn’t change I can’t see myself spending too much time with it :frowning:

I’m really worried about the future of Halo Infinite. I can’t understand how the MCC seasons and challenges can be so fun but this Battle Pass is nothing but frustation.

I’m currently at the stage where my active challenges are so hard/random to complete that I don’t feel much motivation to try and grind for them, for a few hundred XP. I play because it’s fun for now, but my “progression” is stuck completely. Like, how should I kill 5 players with the Commando Rifle if I’m not even put into matches where I’d have even a chance to grab it? And even so, I’m not that good at this game that I could kill 5 people with it, it may took multiple tries. It’s simply too random and time consuming.

I’d have to agree here. The system feels slow and unrewarding. Simply adding some sort of normal match completion EXP would help the progression immensely. The enjoyment of the multiplayer can quickly get lost when you’re on your 4th match of no EXP chasing a challenge. - Thanks for listening 343!

Actually, yes it works. I got some kills with the Commando rifle and they counted towards progress. Unsure if 343 will remove this option from the game though.

I agree with all the sentiment here. I also think a overall progression ranking should be implemented sooner then later as well.
