I really wanna keep playing Infinite, but the progression system kills the fun for me. Start of Season 2 I wanna play with my friends but we all just get last spartan standing challenges. Even if we get challenges we could do together, we have to play different game modes. Give us back performance based XP. That way we can play the modes we enjoy which in turn keeps players interested for a longer time. Many of my friends allready quit again because the only way to progress was to play modes which they dont enjoy. I love the gameplay, sound graphics but I don’t know how much longer I’ll keep playing if I don’t get to play the way I want to.
Oh man, the progression in this game is so painful and not fun. I really, really, hope that they’re going back to the drawing board on this one.
First, they need a progression system that isn’t based on challenges… they can have challenges if they want after they’ve got a real progression system, and challenges just add on to the fun of the mode that you’re playing, not some global challenge list, but a focused on perhaps, but in the end, challenges change the way players play and the impact this has right now feels bad.
Second, I love the buy battle pass and keep it, but the battle pass progression needs to be married with some type of spartan progression system too, not just the season, but the spartan.
I go back to play every now and then but the progression is the biggest thing keeping me from wanting to play. The leveling is slow and challenged based doesn’t feel fun when it’s the only way to progress. I would enjoy the experience a lot more if we had a system similar to MCC, that felt more rewarding and like I wasn’t wasting my trying to complete challenges because I need to complete 2-3 to get a level sometimes lmao.
That being said overall account levels that we could show off like in previous games would be cool too on top of just battle pass levels.
I was just thinking about this. They really missed out on a big opportunity, I miss the old ranks from H3 and Reach. Unsure if anything is changing because I just came back from a hiatus since a few weeks in after launch and not really sure how long ill stick around due to this issue. I loved H3 how your competitive rank also tied into your regular rank.

Forget about the battlepass or after match xp, there is nothing else asking me to play the game. I come back to check the store which also refuses to sale anything worth buying, at this point also is reselling the same stuff. Back to the subject of progression, I would play this game till my thumbs fell off is they added the progression levels from Halo Reach. I’m not a game dev and I hate the fact that I along with plenty others sound like broken records lately, BUT GAH DOGG how hard is it to make a progression system with levels and after match XP? Base xp, kill xp, unique medal xp, objective xp, win and lose xp. Hell if they just assigned generic numbers to some of these would be fine. If they made is grindy as frick I wouldn’t mind at all. Just implement something for the love of all things HALO!
This is generally the sentiment that I get from friends (and my own experience). Halo Infinite is a good game wrapped in mediocre/bad systems. Change those and do a marketing push to reel players back in with a “progression 2.0” and I think there’d be a huge improvement.

There needs to be an overall military rank separate from your competitive rank as well as a service record. The service record should include overall rank, highest competitive rank, K/D, highest difficulty campaign completion, screenshots/clips, forge creations and a competitive map breakdown of each map in order of best performance to worst performance map and show like a blueprint of a map and hotspots for areas that the player has the most amount of kills at and areas where they’ve died the most at.
1 year later and it’s still doing some killing.
The Winter Update isn’t saving it either with Co-Op or Forge. The Creative side with Forge is great, but no expression through your armor since it is all locked behind infinite paywalls.
