Longer matches should give more XP. Maybe Arena matches should give 100 and BTB 125 or 150. If every match gives the same small amount then it’s best to let one of the teams win as quickly as possible in order to be able to go to the next one.

Summary
again I totally agree with you this system sucks
Literally like 2 items in the battlepass that are cool but it not work taking a sabbatical from my job to earn them. Why aren’t there more visors and WTF is everyone’s f’ing obsession with RED. NOT EVERYONE LIKES RED!!!
Dead? and scrolling thru I am honestly surprised to see as many people agreeing with you.
Hardly needs a touch-up. Remind you this season is supposed to last till First quarter of next year and yall want to hit 100 before the full game launches?
Let it be a grind, let the challenges remain “Challenging” the small tweak they made today is nice, and it seems they will make more adjustments.
However, I would hardly say this is gonna die before release overdramatic.
So what do the players get if they don’t buy the battle pass?
They need to revert back to Bungie’s halo 2 ranking system. This bronze through diamond or champ -Yoink!- is getting old af. There was no better feeling than going from 27 to 28 or any new looking rank in the old system.
The UI is what killed the game for me already.
They shouldn’t have gone with the same one used for the insider build.
It told me they were down with the game and wanted to try and convince players they were ready to test the servers when in reality, the servers were being tested by a private group of players, along with staff.
I believe something like getting various amount of exp based on badges or the amount of kills you do, maybe even how much damage you did during the match should factor in to your exp gains,
NOT tedious challenges that players have to go out of their way to do and interupt the core multiplayer gameplay.
It’s already affecting my desire to play the game.
I’m currently at a point where I have two weeklies that are confusing and/or insane with the way the game is currently set up, and I have no desire to log in for 50xp a match.
It sucks that I’m already bored of a game I spent 3 years being hyped for.
This post was flagged by the community and is temporarily hidden.
Yeh exactly and I remember them bragging about the fact they thought we’d be impressed by Infinite’s customisation being somehow better than Reach but all they did was the opposite and annoy 99% of the community then I feel like they have straight up ignored the complaints.
Because, it slows down progression to only have three active at a time. This is a motivation to either purchase Premium and get a fourth challenge slot, or, to sell XP boosts because progression is slow.
Also, in the event that you do get “stuck”, as you yourself is, there’s a chance you’re frustrated enough to use a Swap or two, also available in the store.
Different companies employ different tactics to frustrate money out of players.
The problem you’re having has a solution in the store.
However, the problem is man made, by the same people who own the store.
There’s really no other explanation to it, and if there was, it’d be i343 sweet talk from PR to ensure everything is in the interest of the player, and that they’re intentionally throttling progression “se we have something to do”, while they sell us XP boosts.
Think it was 27 free items in a 100 level battlepass.
Other than that, any “free” item after completing all weeklies for any given week.
That’s as far as I know everything.
it’s still a predatory system which gets rubbed in my face all the time. i have to sit and endure the stance pre and post match (massive time waste) and the challenges are getting rubbed in my face all the time and so on. i would be more fine with it, if i wouldn’t have to see this “advertisement” all the time. i also would appreciate if my hard drive wouldn’t be filled with this stuff i don’t have access to, if i’m not paying. maybe now it’s not that much, but it will increase over time.
basically the game is split between being a game and being an online shop with a lot of advertisement, wherein the later part takes up the majority
Yes, the issue is, you don’t get any XP whatsoever for playing the match. If it was implemented, then the current system would be little better.
As soon as they announced f2p everyone should have expected this.
They make multiplayer f2p but still charge full price for the campaign? They did this to milk as much money as possible from consumers through mp monetization. Don’t be naïve. They took out what once came standard, and are trying to sell the game back to you in pieces.
Also, maybe I’m old but I’ve never understood battle passes. You pay for the privilege of grinding for items? Why pay if you have to grind? I don’t get it. It’s hilarious what corporate overlords have done to gaming and the psyche of gamers.
Anyway, as it stands you’re getting less for your money and that’s how 343/Microsoft want it. Want to affect these practices? Stop preordering, stop giving them money. If enough people did this it would stop.
Thing is, we were quite a few who did suspect something like this would happen.
Sure, i343 made it so a Battlepass never expire, but there’s always a draw back, and unless it’s a false memory, I do think I talked about making progression on it extremely slow in some way.
People’s hype however is too much at times and they’re an unwillingness to listen and even consider the possibility of things going south after something “awesome as non-expiring Battlepasses” has been announced.
Yes, but it was going to be so good with free stuff and a never expiring battlepass. i343 was going to revolutionize the gaming industry. They had learned from Halo 5 not to have a barebone release. i343 is listening. We’re going to get plenty of freebies to unlock.
Pretty much. The idea is that you pay for all the cosmetics, but have to work for them. Individually each piece could cost 50 cents, and in total it’d still be a lot more than the battlepass ever was going to be. It also gives the “satisfaction” of constant unlocks and a progression system.
It’s a carefully nurtured mentality big companies have concentrated on, both social media companies and gaming companies.
Yup, but the issue is that for many gamers today, these practices are standard, it’s what they’re used to. So it’s all they know.
I’ve already lost interest in playing infinite because of issues like you’ve mentioned. Also for a game that’s got loads of customization, there’s very limited options to start and the grind to get anything decent seems impossible. I’m 40 now, I just don’t have that kind of patience.
I agree, I’ve played for a couple hours over three days and got to level 3 which gives me a new logo background and an attachment for a helmet I haven’t unlocked yet… I don’t know what was wrong with the ranking system that every other Halo game I’ve played has had, but this is not the solution.
Ah come on, just enjoy the game. Battle Pass progression isn’t main target of game. It’s horror of novadays games - progress, skins and items are more important than game.
Play, have fun, prio this and all other stuff will be just addon to this Fantastic !! game.
In this case perception matters more than the facts. Yes, you could try to ignore the battle pass and have fun, but after each match you see this screen that shows your current progression and you get 50 XP (1/20 of 1 level) whether you win or lose and regardless of how many killing sprees you performed and it just lowers the motivation to win. This frustrating situation spurs you to actually progress so you turn to challenges and then you start to ignore the actual match objective in favor of doing some obscure stuff that will get you killed consistently because when you eventually succeed you get many times more XP than a single match. And even if you actually earned more XP for the matches you wasted on this stuff getting 300 XP and a visible increase in progression bar feels satisfying because of how our perception works.
I tried to ignore it, i really tried, and i have fun playing the game but each time it irks me.
This was supposed to be a reply to the comment above but it seems i did something wrong.
