The problems of Spartan Ops.

  1. Not checkpoint based.

Unlimited lives and spawns are pointless, make it like campaign when all the players die it goes back to last checkpoint.

  1. Episodes have no connection to in game play.

The episodes literally have almost no connection to what happens when you play, you see a group of spartans fighting that you never see in game and never see your own in that cutscene, when the scientist got zapped it was pretty much irrelevant to what you did in game. It’s like me seeing a commercial for McDonalds and then decide to go buy new shoes. They have no connection.

  1. Your character means nothing.

Your character is never seen, heard, referenced or anything, they essentially mean nothing to the player. Ex. Rookie may have had little development, but he had a personality and we knew things about him, other characters knew about him, but this Spartan four could just not exist all together and that wouldn’t mean anything.

I agree and its also very repetative. Another complaint is that it takes the same methods of gameplay used in the campaign.
Eg. Press this button, fend of hostiles, go press another button.

However apart from all these flaws, i dont mind it. I enjoy co-op in Spops. I just hope they further develop the plot. I wanna see some stuff that will tease Halo 5 not just expand on Halo 4.

Ya, more unique area’s would help.

i think since we are only on the second episode and there will be ten in total it will get much better. plus im a big fan of the haloverse and im super excited to see what happens with halsey. although i agree with some of your points if you really get into it it makes sense story wise.

what do mean …

the second episode is about the artifact you find from the first episode…they say “crimson made the first grab”

and they cant show your custom spartan in prerendered movies

…it will be a failure if they dont figure out some new locations though

There definitely needs to be a checkpoint system. I think it’s stupid that I can go into a mission solo, run in like Rambo, die 50,000 times & still get the “challenge” for beating it on legendary. Where’s the challenge in that?

I also think having a visible scoring system like firefight would GREATLY increase replay value for Spartan Ops! Theater mode would help as well.

My main issue is that, it feels nothing like firefight.

Where’s my score and leadboards at least…

In game missions feel too contextually sterile, when they’re supposed to be very tied in to the fiction.

I’d rather just pay for the CG episodes as a stand alone series, and have a working well thought out co-op based challenge mode, more like ODST’s firefight.

The part I really dislike is how Episode 1 was 5 different levels but now Episode 2 is the EXACT SAME levels but in reversed order?
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
What were they thinking! I seem to me that 343 hasn’t even put a bit of effort into making some new levels for Spartan Ops.

Not only does it kill the challenge but it also makes adding in scoring redundant. Not to mention how replayability becomes non-existent since if you’re not battling and you’re trying anything else (which typically gets you killed), it will be a waste of time. I wanted to collect Wraiths and Ghosts on Land Grab (rather pointless but it’d have been nice to line them up) but without saving, it’ll just be a waste of time. So I haven’t gone Gold yet.

The best you can do is exit the levels. That’s probably the only unique thing I’ve seen on YouTube. There’s no major strategy guides, no campaign esque glitches, etc.

I do not have a problem with playing a random Spartan IV, I agree tho that it would be nice for the levels to work like in campaign

The main issue with me is the unbearable lag, but those are some valid points you brought up, OP.

Here’s hoping that they improve it in future episodes.
