The problem with recent Halo games.

Halo 4 and Halo 5 aren’t exactly favorites by the Halo community, here are the Pure reasons why:

Halo started losing the interest of fans once 343 Industries came. In Halo 4, they destroyed Halo’s unique formula (pushing the community away)…by adding weapon loadouts, sprint for everyone, perks etc. Then when Halo 5 came, they brought back equal starts…but kept sprint, and added spartan charge, ground pound, clambering, and took out Split-screen CO-OP…Therefore Halo 5’s sales, population, reputation, and ratings were the lowest of the series. Halo was an arena game, which means your weapon should be pointing up at ALL times (meaning no sprint) Halo 5 still doesn’t feel like Halo.

Look at CoD for example…Awesome formula, and people play it for its unique formula…when AW came out, the formula was different, and nobody liked it (it wasn’t Cod at the core). Now look at BO3, wen’t back to its roots, and is the most successful CoD since BO2…People play Destiny, because it’s different, and the people who play it love its unique formula…

For Halo to TRULY become successful again, they must return to the roots. Here’s what Halo 6 needs:

  • No sprint - Keep ground pound - Duel Wielding - Classic art style - Instrumental OST - Splitscreen CO-OP - Good looking armor - good textures - good armor customization (like Reach) - good story - add new enemies like the San 'Shyuum - UNCS air vehicle____These are the soul reasons Halo was so famous.

umm wrong on destiny its barren as for trying retrospect is not a good idea. people just need to adapt is all. but more maps and gametypes is a must

Your bullet list is a pretty good one. Sprint and armor abilities are quite a controversial topic though. There are many who are in favor of them, and many who oppose them.

Something that might please both crowds is to add a “Classic” playlist to the game/future games. There are some drawbacks though; playlist populations become split which results in longer search times and possibly less balanced matchmaking.

I think a good way to gauge the popularity of the 2 very different play styles/mechanics would be to implement multiple beta-tests. Have an exclusively “classic” beta and another one for whatever they come up with.

First off, I believe that Halo has underwhelmed badly since 343 taking the reigns. I don’t necessarily agree with everything though…

  • I don’t mind sprint, it’s when it’s mixed with all these stupid thruster abilities (which 343 never gave us a say on) that make it over the top.
  • I could care less about ground pound. Pretty unrealistic and unnecessary to me. I wouldn’t mind a simplified version like a downwards melee punch.
  • Dual wielding will not make or break the game for me, though I think they could come up with some fun modernization to it.
  • I agree the armor needs a little more attention and customization
  • I agree with split screen and co-op. The 60fps excuse was just BS. They just didn’t care.
  • I agree story/campaign was lame.

However, there’s a lot more than that, that needs help.

WRONG WRONG WRONG. I hate when people keep spreading this rumor. Adding playlists when necessary (Halo 5 for example) would add more population and give more people what they want. So though literally and immediately it might “split the population”, over time the population increases.

This isn’t a rumor.

There’s only finite amount of players on at a given time, and then there’s the fact that they’re all over the world. Put two and two together. I’m sure if you knew anything about networking that you’d be able to understand why they do that. (hint, it involves a concept called ping and latency, then skill ranking gets thrown into those two factors)

i enjoy h5 just as much as i have enjoyed every halo.
destiny is horrible and doesn’t live up to what bungie did with halo

no to dual wielding as it ruins the sandbox

BOOM! This is exactly what I’ve been saying since 2012. I made a gametype that runs like that (except for the art and duel wielding and such) with no sprint, Spartan charge. Kept thrusters and ground pound and it plays wonderfully in H5 customs. But the base game should be that way! You hit the nail on the head man.

What is ruined because of it?

I had so much hope for the series as 343 took over but I’ve been so let down the whole time.
