So, first off, I’m going to talk about my experience as a Cod player. It has insta-respawn, and that is done by pressing X.
So, heres the thing. Everyone, and by that I mean EVERYONE except those who are either chatting with someone on a computer or mad that somebody killed them in a way they don’t know, would be mashing the X button immediately after death. Its not just a habit, is practically part of the game.
So, bring Insta-respawn to Halo and that would happen. Problem is, button layouts don’t match it. I would play with Bumper jumper, and with me mashing X, I would activate my armor ability upon spawn, and that would suck.
I’m hoping that things like throwing grenades or sprint or armor abilities are disabled for about 1 second after spawn so there is no error. Also, 2 things.
Please don’t say “Adapt hurr durr”.
If you think that it should be there because you might spawn right in a combat zone, don’t you think spawns would have a problem?
Hmm good point. It would be nice if it was customizable to which button you have to press to instant respawn, but I have a feeling that wont be happening.
I’m sure there won’t be any errors when you’re about to instantly respawn. For example: Your friend accidently betrayed you and you got the option to boot them. You press B to forgive them, then you notice you just melee’d thin air.
Reminds me of the problem when COD4 first came out. The controls didn’t match up, but the gameplay was suitably similar that you’d forget which control scheme you were using. If you accidentally team-killed when you threw a grenade while trying to reload, “Sorry, I was just playing Halo” became a fairly common (and accepted) explanation.
Something tells me this is going to be the situation here. You’ll just have to get mixed up a few times and then adjust to it.
