The Potential Downfall Of Halo

Hello 343 Studios and fellow Halo players all around the world. I am a highly skilled Halo player that has been playing religiously since Halo’s inception. Mostly competitively online. It is with great regret, that I have to declare, that after playing Halo for over 20 years, Halo Infinite may mark the end of my Halo days. Not because I can’t compete at a high level still, but rather because the game has gone in a much different direction than I could have ever anticipated. For the most part, I thought that 343 studios has done a good job at carrying the torch after Bungie passed the reins since Halo Reach. However, it is evident to me that Halo has been in a steady decline since the last couple years of Halo 5. Thus far, the major disappointments are playlists and stat tracking. This whole idea of lumping the playlists together is a major turn off for me. Separating playlists has been a cornerstone of Halo for many many years. To see playlists reduced to just quickplay and ranked is enough for me to completely lose interest. Not to mention, no stat tracking? Also, another staple of Halo and FPS games. The current ranked mode was typically referred to as MLG playlist, but now, I am forced to only compete in this niche category that truly only caters to a small percentage of players. I think it’s totally cool if it’s in the game, in fact, I’d go as far as saying it should be in the game… but as a separate playlist… as it always was. There is more than one way to compete 343. What happened to ranked objective? What happened to ranked team slayer? Ranked big team battle? Ranked team doubles? Not everyone wants to compete within the confines of no radar and BR start. Can I? Sure. Sometimes I would if I was in the mood for MLG style. This is an easy fix and I am truly hopeful that order and balance be restored to the state of Halo’s playlists. I have no issues waiting a few extra minutes for a match, if that is the concern. I’m sure others would agree. As far as stats are concerned, it goes without saying why tracking ALL stats is fun and important to maintain. As brilliantly suggested by others in the forums, an easy fix is simply to have an option to make your profile public or private… as to avoid toxic players harassing others over their perception of said stats. Please remember though ladies and gentlemen, mute/block can go a long way to avoid these undesirable types of people/players. So, all together, fairly easy fixes. But, without them, I simply have no interest in playing Halo anymore and will focus my time into other games. With all that being said, the gameplay is actually pretty crisp. I like the item/equipment style that 343 is trying out. Love that there is only a few uses per thrust, grapple… etc. There will be all kinds of adjustments to guns, maps, damage, and whatever else. I can live with whatever those adjustments may be… lumping playlists and no stats though… TOTAL deal breaker for me. These are just my opinions. I am just one person… nothing special. Nonetheless, this is how I feel about the current state of Halo Infinite. I appreciate any support that I may receive from anyone who may read this. The last thing I will say is how I appreciate the hard work 343 Studios has put into the game over the years. Largely loved Halo 4 and 5. I don’t want to undermine all the long hours and dedication 343 has put into Halo… that is not my intention. I mean no disrespect to anyone, for that matter, through the expression of my views and opinions. I am still rooting for you 343! Please fix multiplayer
