I’m not feeling the “calm before a storm” kind of crap. It’s logistics. Take a gander at this. Notice the population “spike” during Boxing Day and Christmas holidays at 100K.
Of course, that was before we had a better Halo 4. Now we have fileshare and upcoming features like a TU, DLC, Team Throwdown(classic competitive playlist), Team Objective, and better Spartan Ops.
How is this going to help the population in the middle of February?
Certainly not the middle of February, but March Break is coming up! College dudes, 12-year olds, and reluctant long-time Halo fans should come online, and see if the game has been changed to suit their liking.
Anything wrong with my hopeful theory?
Nope, nothing wrong with your hopeful theory. I can see it too, with these changes coming I believe Halo 4 will finally get some sure footing and be able to make some progress.
I was hoping for the competitive playlist to start this Monday but sadly we got one more week. At least we have team Snipers, and doubles until then.
the population will stabilize for a week, then go down again.
As long as I’m enjoying the game, population is irrelevant.
Reach’s population rose after its title update. We’ll never reach the numbers of December again, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Halo 4’s population stabilized or rose, especially since 343 has been improving the game constantly (if too slowly) since launch.

Population is the one thing that’ll shut the self-proclaimed “true Halo fans” up. We play video games to get away from our everyday lives, why the heck are we bringing population count crap into a video game?
The fact you don’t care about population makes you a preferred player in my book.
> the population will stabilize for a week, then go down again.
All too true. I just hope the big changes being added will grab some players and hold onto them.
I’m excited for Team Snipers on Monday.
Unless that TU includes a local only sarch filter, that number won’t go up by 1 from me.
dnt forget becus of team dubs and snipes
i have noticed that the population is getting lower and lower each day but i really couldn’t care less, as long as i can still find games then i am happy.

Population wouldn’t matter if this were a stupid one-off game nobody cared about, but it’s not, it’s HALO, and people are understandably sad to see its popularity dwindle.
Hopefully the upcoming changes can bring some people back.
There’s nowhere for it to go but up at this point. There’s literally NOTHING coming out for the 360 for the rest of this year besides Gears of War Judgment, and with all the upcoming patches and DLC, I don’t doubt that it can increase again.
OP: Boxing Day? anyways the population is so low its not even a major game any more. it is, but only for the first 2 weeks and then boom, population drop. i play a little but it doesnt hook me in anymore. except for spartan ops, only thing keeping me hooked

Indeed, Spartan Ops and Snipers is bringing me back with excitement.

Lost Planet 3, Crysis 3, Alien: Colonial Marines, Army of Two: Devil’s Cartel, Bioshock Infinite, Dead Island: Riptide.

Thank you, I think after the release of Aliens CM the population will go down quite bit for a while.

Same here
Remember, “wait till christmas.”
It will improve, but not by much. What’s really important is if it sustains itself for a while.

Exactly, we play video games to get away from our usual, often boring lives. It’s a real kick to the teeth when the video game we are playing for this purpose turns out to be even more boring than talking to randoms on a forum. That’s exactly what Halo has become for so many people and that’s what they are complaining about, the fact that it doesn’t cure the boredom like the good old Halo’s of old did for them.

Uh, does the original poster even follow games? And you missed Dead Space 3, once I get my copy from amazon preorder next week, I’m done with halo 4 for weeks.
