Below are a few plot points that apparently don’t make sense yet they are explained in the game or require knowledge from Halo CE-4.
What is the Domain - Cortana explains what the Domain was in Halo 4 when you activate a terminal
What is the mantle - explained numerous times in Halo 4 and in Halo 5 chief explains it to Blue team
Evil Cortana - Only the Rampant parts were left on the Mantles approach in Halo 4 “the rest of me is down there”
Builders - Exuberant explains what they are if you spend the time to explore the place
Osiris backstory’s - Osiris backstory’s are mentioned several times
What is a Cryptum - Shown in Halo 4
What is a constructor - shown in Halo 2
If anyone has any other plot points that don’t make sense let me know and I will try to see if they were explained at some point in Halo 5 or in the other 4 main games.
Thanks.
Campaign was great. Made total sense. No idea why people hate on it.

Same, I loved every minute of it and I felt as if everything was explained to me the whole time.
Some stuff was not neatly explains.
The Domain and Mantle actually get “explained” about 3 times each in H5 but those are really just repeating one definition again and again. For the Mantle it was fine but for the Domain it was vague. All the game said is that it was a galaxy-wide network. A network of what?
Evil Cortana will, of course, be explained later but we needed a bit info showing the Warden and Cortana coming to an agreement to see a change. In the story she just pops in as evil. And you cant really say this was a rampant part. That is just one theory. This needed to be fleshed out a bit.
The builders … meh, i guess they needed to be visually tied with the Librarian and Didact. Randomly throwing a descriptive word doesnt do that much justice. I didnt have a problem with this.
Osiris backstory did not exist really. We get that Buck is ODST, Locke worked for ONI and worked in a profile to kill Arbiter, and that Vale was stuck on a ship and learned Sangheli. That’s all we get. We dont really get anything on Tanaka. She may have a mention about growing up in a colony? There is no story of why they became Spartans or a team. And with the marketing making a vs thing, 343 dropped the ball here. They are all sentences away from being 117 in CE.
Cryptum didnt need a definition. They should have just called it a jail or something.
And the constructors were fine.

The Domain is the organic-based “network” that the Precursors created to store their extensive and expanding knowledge. Beginning of the universe type stuff. The problem with the Domain being mentioned is that it was destroyed during the firing of the HALO arrays, which destroys anything organic. That’s why Precursor artifacts and ruins don’t exist. Everything they made was organic in some way.

Everything could and should have been given more context, but in the end you still know all you need to enjoy the story. In other Halos you didn’t need to know the backstory’s of Captain Keyes or Johnson, the story still worked out great without it so the same should work for Osiris.
The Rampant Cortana is the only explanation that makes sense that is currently possible within the games current lore.

i suppose if they were so advanced, they might have some stuff in other galaxies or like the ark, just outside for safe keeping. Could the flood access it? or AI? …i really gotta read the Forerunner Saga. It seems like a Galactic story of Trial and Error, repeating over and over to test who is fit to take complete control.
