Sarcasm/ Hello, none of you know me yet, but within the next couple of weeks I expect to be very well known throughout these forums. I’m Halo 4’s Archangel, and my duty is to help save Halo, I don’t believe Halo is in any real trouble but to please the worried, I will be be getting comfy in these forums just so I can help suggest some fixes to the game. /Sarcasm.
In this thread, we will be talking about a playlist that isn’t really talked about when it comes to fixes.
First let us discuss what SWAT has been over the years. SWAT is a game-type in which everyone has the same weapon(s) at all times whether it was your trusty Halo 3 BR or your impulsive Reach DMR or even just your same as always Magnum.
The changes to Halo 4 SWAT aren’t too bad. But admit-ably it feels like they just tossed everything into SWAT to see what people liked or didn’t like, and how the weapons matched up.
Let me give you a scenario, lets say you are walking around on Adrift, and you come trough the, red side, small hallway and you see three enemies that may or may not be aware of you yet. You have the Battle Rifle, and they all have DMRs. You storm down the hallway like you know the place, maybe even picking up a two-for-one shot double kill in the mix because honestly thats just how the BR works, it has a decent advantage in CQC areas, as you walk down the hallway you look across the middle of the map, into the entrance of the opposing blue hallway, there stands an enemy! You scope in with your BR and you load two shots into the distance just hoping to hit him, but neither shot lands its target altho you are very close to his head. But BAM he kills you with his laser accurate DMR and your hopes of an overkill is over.
But hold on, before you post “Oh shut up, SWAT is fine how it is.” Just hear me out.
This isn’t so much of a complaint, yet it is in some way, but I have an amazing solution most of you will love.
This BR/DMR issue hasn’t really been a problem on most maps (because they’re small and I mainly go with the BR)
Now I know a few of you might call me out on this, but in all seriousness you never really see people using the DMR on small maps, Haven for example. But where do you see them? In the hands of the people who
A)Camp back beach tree on Abandon with a DMR just sniping away.
B)Standing in the hallway door ways looking across to the other side.
C)Complex and sometimes Solace*
Now lets take all the strong BR SWAT maps like Haven, Adrift, and Abandon and now imagine everyone has a DMR instead of a BR. The game play changes right? the areas you want to be change, the places people camp differ now, feels like Reach SWAT eh?. Same for if everyone had JUST the BR on Abandon for example: You wouldn’t have to worry about rushing top middle getting an overkill and then they enemy spawning back beach other of your line of site then BAM you catch a laser accurate DMR shot to the face.
Now lets talk about maps that, lets face it… You NEED to pick the DMR on. Complex and Harvest now just wait a second and imagine playing those maps with BRs only? Again, the game play changes A LOT right? Thats my point.
Now the controversial maps, the ones that really put this idea into my head. The maps that people don’t know if they want a DMR or a BR on. Maps that really make you angry and shift in between weapons a lot: Solace and recently Shutout (notice a lot of people are complaining about the DMR/BR issue in slayer when it comes to Shutout.) These maps aren’t sloppy but they could use my help.(see my final explanation below!)
Alright so this is my suggestion.
1)You search matchmaking
2)Find a game
3)Voting starts
A)Voting screen 1 example: Haven :: Adrift :: Solace
4)Map is chosen : Haven
5)Voting screen 2 example: Haven BRs :: Haven DMRs :: Haven Magnums
(maybe a forth option allowing all weapons)
6)Game-type chosen: Haven DMR’s
7)Game starts.
Now just imagine how much more different DMRs only on Haven would feel?
These options put SWAT back to the way it has always been, while giving it a cool new game-type twist! It even brings back the beloved SWAT Magnums.
Now before you post your opinion please take note, do you play SWAT once or twice a day, or all day everyday? Why?
Well to casual SWAT lovers SWAT might seem perfect to you, but this idea was created and discussed by some of the top SWAT players among us.
We have all taken part on doing 4v4 DMRs/Brs/Magnum only game-types on all maps, and let me be first to say, it makes SWAT feel even more amazing. Give it a try sometime.
-Thanks for your time, I hope you enjoyed my suggestions, please pass them one and feel free to comment. March on, Spartans!

Lastly to any hopefuls that want to see Light Rifle/Carbine SWAT… We attempted it many times… It’s just something not meant for matchmaking put it’s decent for customs! Sorry.
