thus far there has been no confirmation of the plasma rifle returning in halo 4. i personally hope that we wont lose this iconic weapon. maybe here at e3 we will see the plasma rifle(and the NR) make its return. many have speculated the the assault carbine may be its replacement, i hope this isnt the case.

Yep, but we have this other rifle that I feel I’m not allowed to say. It supposedly stronger and shoots faster than the plasma rifle (according to a podcast)
There was an article a while ago that said that the Plasma Rifle was replaced by a Plasma Repeater-like weapon.

You mean the Assault Carbine? It’s been confirmed, so there’s no problem with saying the name. I don’t know if it’ll be a good replacement or not, but I guess we’ll wait and see. I’m still kinda sad that there won’t be a Plasma Rifle, though. It’s always fun to go around trolling people with it.

ive heard of this, this is describing when game informer was talking about the assault carbine. they never said it replaced the plasma rifle. they saw the weapon at the end of the halo 4 campaign demo, but they were unable to get to it fast enough to see how it worked.

I know that, but I was referring to something else. It may have a new name.

we dont know what the storm rifle is. it may be the assault carbine or it could be something completely different. we need to wait to get more Information before we can make these assumptions. who knows, the storm rifle could be a forerunner rifle.

I can’t say that I want it in Halo 4. Heck, it was worthless in Halo Reach where the plasma pistol was more powerful. Halo 4 is a single wield shooter, so plasma rifle won’t do much unfortunately.
The plasma rifle works better with duel wield. We’ll have to wait for a duel wield Halo game.

I would assume that the supposed logic behind this decision is that the covenant won’t play a big role in H4, which is why the PR is out. But seeing as the Sword is in, it makes me question 343’s logic behind this. If you couldn’t already tell, my post was sarcastic but obvious sarcasm is hard to detect these days it seems.
