The Plasma Repeater

The Plasma Repeater really needs a damage / bloom tweak to bring it back to Beta status. As it currently is, it would be more effective to blow bubbles at the other team than try and use the Repeater. It burns through Ammo in a heartbeat, overheats too quickly, and the Bloom NEVER stops growing. Not to mention the slow moving projectiles it fires that do little damage past close range.

It was PERFECT in the Beta and made Invasion a blast. Now all I see is Elites running around with AR’s and Pistols on the first phase.

If it doesn’t get buffed, give Eliltes Plasma Rifles.

I loved the Repeater in the beta.

It needs a definite damage buff. It also needs a projectile speed boost along with the Plasma Launcher (Or a tracking buff at least).

Your right. I am currently testing possible buff damages for it in customs. I hope they buff it so its actually usable.

The weakness it has is the fact it is not hitscan. The repeater’s counterpart, the assault rifle, is hitscan so it just pales in comparison. Making it a hitscan weapon would balance it just fine. Of course, I don’t know if it’s as simple as clicking a button.

Alright. Ive been testing out the Plasma Repeater and I think it should do 110% on sheilds but regular on Health. What I mean is when you shoot somone with the PR on 110% damage how quick it takes down the sheilds. But 100% on Health. Or if thats to OP then although this isnt testable make it 105% on shields.

Testing AR which is also in need of a buff…

EDIT:Alright change of plans. The AR should have a 2 bullet buff while the Plasma repeater should have a 3 bullet buff.

2 Shots less to kill an un shielded enemy for the AR. # bullets less to take down shields for the Plasma Repeater.

Besides the grenade damage, I preferred how all the weapons worked in the beta. Bloom was more appropriate since it really forced you to pace and to use from mid to long range. The Plasma pistol and the plasma repeater were worthy counterparts to the assault rifle. The plasma launcher and the focus rifle were actually useful. Damn all those complainers!!!

It seems the Repeater is now the ‘Plasma Uzi’ while the Plasma Rifle is more accurate than ever. I agree that the beta Repeater was much better, it was actually my Tool of Destruction for Invasion in the beta. It was multi-purpose but now it feels pretty useless to me.

I know some people excel with the weapon, but thats only down to stubborness in all honesty, and determination to use the weapon while in reality, other guns/tactics work better in almost every situation.

I would suggest just making plasma repeater take longer to overheat. That is often a great source of frustration for me.

Do note that the Plasma Rifle is much weaker then it’s counter part the Plasma Repeater, hence it has no bloom. The only main thing that needs buffing is prolonging the over heating, because it is simply too quick.

Although the Plasma Pistol and Plasma Repeater combo works wonders in Invasion, but it needs a more practical use. You don’t see people using Plasma Pistol to take out shields then switching to their Assault Rifles to finish the job. :slight_smile:

No…I kick butt with it, the only weakness is when u get meleed or long range, other wise it can beat a battle against most weapons, its also very good with flesh.

The Plasma Rifle is non existent in Multiplayer like the Brute Spiker. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m certain I used a Plasma Rifle on Pinnacle Multi Team a few days ago. Elite Slayer maybe, but it was there anyway.

It’s ammo count is hardly a problem. Any gametype that is going to have it either has it as an AR upgrade or a default weapon spawn. The latter means that you will always find them. The former is a balance against the weapons power, which needs to be buffed.

And it can fire just slightly longer than the AR before it’s “clip” runs dry and you get significant slowdown in your shots, forcing you to vent/reload.

And the bloom is comparable to the AR’s if it isn’t outright the same. The only difference is that the Repeater has a faster rate of bloom.

And as for damage: It’s projectiles do not lose damage as they travel. Nor is the strength of the gun weak. It’s stronger than the AR.

The problem with the Repeater is that it’s not Hitscan. If it was hitscan it would be a lot better. Lacking that it needs more in all of it’s other fields to compensate for the lack of hitscan.

Plasma Rifles have all the same pitfalls as the Repeater with a few extra thrown in. The only good thing it has over the Repeater is that it strips shields faster. And kills overall slower.
