I agree. The disruptor is a better noob combo. 3 quick pops then switch to the br. The plasma pistol needs some range to work. But the disrupter works best jiggling out of cover and letting g the drain effect happen.

The plasma gun needs to be returned to the tracking function, that would be perfect.
The one thing that I noticed that is insane with the infinite plasma pistol is the ridiculous range on this sucker. The other thing I noticed is that the battery drain for holding is super low.
I get a lot of use for taking out snipers and br campers. As long as they dont see you, you will nail them from across the map. It is super effective.
Dont be afraid to hold it down and run around the map. It is great for assisting your team and or picking off campers.
It still has a role, but does need a buff in several spots.
Every now and then I’ve still been trying to overcharge shot vehicles, just to see if maybe it does a lot of damage.
Some time I hop on and I’m waiting for my buddies to join up, I might go into customs to see if maybe that’s its niche. Instead of the EMP effect I’m thinking maybe it’s just a pure damage dump if you can land an overcharge shot on a weak spot.
Its EMP was most likely stripped so that the Disruptor won’t be literally useless. Disruptor is by far the most useless gun in the game having small clip size + needing excessive amount of shots to EMP anything.
If PP EMP still existed, Disruptor will be the one which is useless in this game.
Now I wouldn’t mind if we had the old PP variant in the game, but I wanna see a “Banished PP” or “Brute PP” become the new mainstay if the fundamental role of the PP was changed. (Different from the White Variant PP from the Campaign and as a new main variant)
Like for example, the Banished PP’s tap shot will be faster and overheats faster, and the charged fire will instead shoot out a rapid burst of shots. Since the original Plasma Rifle isn’t in the game anymore, this could be a decent replacement and a role change for the PP.
i just had an idea. To give Plasma weapons an overall buff and give their tracking a purpose, have Plasma weapons do increased damage to vehicles over other weapon types. Lightning stuns, stops and damages all occupants making it possible to jack the vehicle without destroying it while plasma, an EXTREMELY hot bolt of superheated gas, melts through the vehicle. The the PP serves a purpose again, just not against humans. To be fair, no one ever used the PP against humans except for the noob combo and to EMP vehicles, never to actually secure a kill.
Forerunner weapons already have that perk. They all do extra damage to vehicles.
I couldn’t care less about the EMP removal. I’m fine with that appearing in other areas of the sandbox, but the charged shot needs to easily strip shields. It’s the entire purpose of the weapon. The homing needs to be fixed.
I found it strange that it seams to be even weaker in campaign. I like the idea of a charge shot doing micro aoe damage and where it can burn in a spot or on a vehicle. Not as much aoe as the ravager though. This would be cool to shoot in narrow doorways.
Also I think the non charge shot needs to have a bit of tracking.
As for the distuptor, I think you could buff it with a little aoe damage so it’s a bit easier to hit people it wouldn’t stack as much electricity as a direct hit and the aoe wouldn’t burn in spot like the plasma.
It’d be nice if they gave it back the AOE and chain damage off of weapons, vehicles and equipment.
I too would like to see it adjusted to be worth a pickup. I think upping its charge shot tracking just slightly would be really beneficial. It would then become a viable shield strip option but be different enough from the Pulse Carbine to not essentially act the same.
Even if the Plasma Pistol doesn’t do a full EMP, it would be nice to see it at least slow a vehicle down or make it harder to control temporarily. (Or perhaps temp-disable weaponry without stalling the vehicle itself) Also, a damage buff, and perhaps even make the overcharge capable of killing an unshielded opponent outright ala. Halo CE would be a good idea.
