Better that than have you placed too high. You can’t de-rank from a division once you’ve placed. So it’s actually better to be placed lower and then work your way up.

It should at least be close to accurate though.
Even the matchmaking is flawed. It was only on game 8/9 that it put me against onyx players and even when I won it still put me against platinums for the last game.
Makes no sense.
I don’t think Its meant to be accurate. There is to much variation if ppl quit, or forced to play nothing but Orion, maybe team up with diamonds win every game while having a neg k/d & still end up onyx like one of my friends, or go your route. How can it be accurate?

For a start it could have not matched me against golds and platinums for the bulk of the placement (nor matched me with them again after I’d comfortably beaten onyx and diamond players).
