The Pit is arguably the best and the most balanced competitive 4v4 Slayer/CTF/Assault map of all times.
Naturally we can’t assume it’s gonna be just as balanced with thrusters and similar perks, but assuming we all stay on the ground or if they scaled the map up a bit I think it’s got a fair shot at achieving the same success it achieved in Halo 3 as the number 1 MLG map. Suffice to say it will have an actual remake and not just some crappy spiritual remake A.K.A that mess they turned Blackout into in Halo: Reach.
To remake this map, it would obviously need it’s weapon selection as well*(or something similar, since dual-wielding is out)*, and since we know little to nothing about Halo 4’s weaponry I’m gonna put a nice little green X next to each confirmed weapon as they’re revealed. If a weapon is confirmed as not in the game, I’ll put down a red X. If the weapon does exist in Halo 4, but as a remake that functions differently, A.K.A the Bruteshot’s downgrade, I’ll add a blue X.
As a first point, I will say that Midship was a better and more balanced 4v4 map.
Anyway, the main reason I don’t want The Pit, is because if I want to play The Pit, I will just load up Halo 3 and hit up Matchmaking.
I only want to see remakes that did NOT appear in any Halo Xbox 360 title. Any and all of them should come from Halo CE and 2, and only the ones that haven’t already been remade into 3 or Reach.
Also, the Assault Rifle has NOT been confirmed, and the Magnum HAS been confirmed, get your Xs right.

> The Pit has and will always remain a terrible map. It was slightly less terrible with Flag than Slayer but the overall design of it was just awful.
Exactly. I don’t get why some many people liked the “Pit”. It wasn’t that great of a map. Nearly every match I played on that map either involved the “Sword Room”, or the “Rocket Spawn” Location.
The Pit by design is a terrible map. I will never understand the love for this map. The main routes to cross the map are funneled into tight corridors blocking most lines of sight from base to base and becoming grenade holes. This essentially results in stale mate, slow gameplay. Some game types are better than others but the map is fundamentally flawed and certainly doesn’t deserve a remake.
I used to be a huge fanboy of this map, and it was my second favorite when Halo 3 was ending and Reach was starting.
The map is just a wall dividing the entire thing. How can this make for a good map? The entire map is 2 halls, a giant wall, a box, and no-mans land where the Snipers spawn. Flag sucked on the map because it was so easy to defend. KotH is the only worthwhile gametype to play with Pit.
Wow… and there I was thinking everybody loved The Pit. I didn’t realise it was such a hated map. Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing it return. Although I would much rather see a remake of Sandtrap. Maybe a snow version with ice and grey metallic elephants.

You are so right about Citadel! That map was phenomenal, im only disappointed it didnt come around till near the end. Honestly it is one of the best H3 maps, it just didnt get much attention due to it being late in the games life.
> dont honestly see how u can dislike pit. probly the best competitive map in h3
Don’t see how you can think its a good map.
> It’s map design is fundamentally terrible. As a symmetrical map, it should at least play with a vertically. It doesn’t. It plays on a single plane. Secondly, it does nothing to funnel movement as any good map should. It lacks an enormous amount of predictability. Midship is amazing, despite being a symmetrical map, precisely because of these two components. It plays on approximately two different planes with Pink Tower and it funnels movement. Pit is basically this huge expanse with tunnels to connect two areas where you basically play the lottery. It’s downright awful linear aggressive gameplay. You cross tunnels constantly, almost mindlessly, with your team, trying to brute-force your way once you’re on the other side. Maybe if Sword was more powerful and had better LoS it could work, but as it stands, its terrible and will always remain terrible.
tl;dr its design is awful, has and will always remain a terrible map.
Any map from Halo 3 (maybe except of Narrows) is better than The Pit. It’s boring to play on it (1st corridor, then 2nd corridor, then tower, then 3rd corridor and frag/death somewhere in between) and it’s boring to look at it (all walls looks same).
I really don’t understand the hate from this thread for the map, The Pit. It was wonderfully balanced and symmetrical worked great for Team Slayer and CTF. It was even one of the best maps for MLG.
Not to flame but if you don’t like pit then you are probably bad and never truly understood how to play the map. Pit, guardian, and construct we’re the most balanced as well as fun maps I have ever played on any halo game and I’ve played them all.
