The Pit: Why does it exist

Can someone please explain to me the idea behind why the pit is such a loved map? I get it in CE but in 3 and 4 it’s the worst, probably because those games don’t have 3 guns of note, especially 4.

Was never in CE outside of mods, but as for its popularity in 3: its one of the most newcomer friendly maps next to guardian, having just enough of every non-vehicle oriented feature in 3 to allow players to get hands-on experience using the sandbox without feeling overwhelmed.

As for 4, well…
there is a reason people would like to see it ported to H2A.

3 and 4 have at least 3 “guns of note”

H3: Brute Shot, Mauler, and Flamethrower

H4: Binaray Rifle, Railgun, Stick Detonator

Also The Pit is not in CE. It originated in H3.

The Pit is a great map.

Because I found the map to be pretty fun to play on, I liked how it was symmetrical as well

Not many symmetrical maps in h3, especially not one with as many chokes, what seems to be your personal gripe with it?

Oh look someone with a win percentage of 34% and a K/D of 0.658 with barely any time put into playing Halo complaining about a balanced and well crafted map. That’s all.

So what if their k/d is low, that doesn’t just invalidate their opinion, they are just asking a question.

I think it matters from a perspective of credibility. If I was to be injured, I would see a doctor as they have more experience in medicine than I do, if I had a legal dispute, I would hire a lawyer as they have more understanding of the law than I do.

Unfortunately, 343i has a habit of listening to relatively inexperienced players in their fanbase which has led to a steady decline in popularity of the franchise as a whole. I don’t think it matters how many Halo nerf guns you have or how many posters you have in your bedroom, if you have little experience actually playing the game, I believe the overall credibility of the comment is far less valid than someone that actually knows how to play the game.

You can have a team of trained individuals with 50 years experience still screw-up and get people killed because of complacency. Just because somebody looks inexperienced doesn’t necessarily mean they are, and just because somebody looks experienced doesn’t mean they have the best of ideas. Both perspectives are needed to have a healthy series.

Regardless 343’s issue isn’t that they listen to newcomers, its not that they listen to oldtimers, its that 343 cherrypicks only to what they wanna hear regardless of the contradictory data, all so they can cite industry trends and live in blissful ignorance while they treat the series like a cheap plug-n-play console.

The maps is built well, flows very well for Reach, H4, and H3. Not many people hate it, but you’re entitled to your own opinion as always.
