The PIT SUCH a GOOD MAP!

Is going to get ruined by jet packs, sprint, personal ordnance … and just about everything that Halo 4 is.

It only really played Flag well. And with no flag dropping, the map is going to be awful.

Although I am not above giving it another chance with Extraction. But we just learned too much from Halo 3 and Reach.

Its not like 343 don’t know this.

My guess its supposed to work for Legendary Slayer which is going to be released this month.

And besides, 343 are the only ones who know how it functions at the moment, for all we know it could work very well.

However, this does not mean that I do not share your concerns.

We already have a jillion Forge remakes of Pit throughout both Reach and Halo 4. We know how it plays.

It definitely played well because you could drop the flag, yes. You had so many routes to go where you could either choose to go fast, but open yourself to fire, or sneak around the map.

Where is our flag? Find our flag!!!

Altogether it was one of my favorite maps in Halo 3, and I would hate to see it getting destroyed in Halo 4 because of the games game play elements.

I dislike The Pit, but I don’t doubt its potential as a Flag map.

All of the dynamic of Pit Flag is really going to be lost in Halo 4. It’s going to just be forward aggression and a game of find-the-waypoint.

The pit is a fairly flat plan map, The jet pack might be useful for assaulting the sniper towers but not much else. Pitfall also has the crate jumps so I can’t see the jet pack having much effect unless you can get out of the map or something. My biggest concern is CTF. The pits speciality, might not play well with the new CTF gametype.

I’m not sure about Extraction, I didn’t think KOTH played that well, but Ext is a capture defend gametype as opposed to a hold your ground gametype… so I don’t know.

The Sniper Tower is one of the biggest Power Positions on the pit. If you were up there and you had a sword in Halo 3 you could stay up there almost all game. I am unsure about how the Pit played in Halo Reach because I barely played the game, but I can see that Power Position being almost useless in Halo 4.

Jet pack could have many uses on The Pit in Halo 4. You could easily jump from flag room to the plat, over shield ramp to sword ramp, snipe 1 to snipe 2, bridge 1 to bridge 2, and this is only one of the few times I can think of where the Jet Pack will be highly annoying and game breaking without even having played it yet.

I see almost every power position, every opening and everything good about the pit getting destroyed now, only by the abilities that is sprint and jet pack.

Meh. It will still be fun to play. It’s not going to have the same feel as halo 3 for sure. But I’d deff vote for it over many maps currently in halo 4. The pit is probably the only map i’m going to feel comfortable playing on for slayer pro.

It looks bigger so maybe they increased the maps size for sprint, but the gameplay I saw had someone using jetpack and spamming rocket launcher

I searched up to find some game play and I found pure chaos.

“One more thing to note is that there is an option to bring the ball to different respawn points, uh each time it spawns after a goal. Rather than just going back to a central location, BRINGING in of course, uh just one more element of uh … RANDOMNESS requiring your team to establish map control”.

Wow Bravo, just wow. I lost all respect for you. 1:10

I can only imagine now in Halo 4’s slayer variant that the spawns will flip if you push too far into the other side of the map. Say goodbye to locking down the enemy teams sniper tower and causing distractions, the enemy will just spawn in your base now!

Smh … jetpacks, camo, sprint, and H4 in general will ruin this classic map.

Slayer Pro removes all those problems except sprint. Now if only some people would stop being hypocrites and actually vote for Slayer Pro.

Since the Pit was already a fairly large map, I don’t see sprint harming it too much.

Just wish 343I would finally give us a no-sprint gametype.

So it’s a bad thing that some random guy who decides he’s going to camp the spawn with a boltshot can’t secure every ball for his team?

Thing is…

The Pit is a really easy level to create in forge, there are a handful of really good 1:1 versions out there, so it kind of sucks that they have bought it back when there are already a number of great forge remakes.

Small/ medium maps like The Pit and Lockout I don’t think should be bought back unless its via forge remake. They are just very straight arenas (if that makes sense?).

True, but there’s two reasons:

  1. the map will look much nicer graphically
  2. the map will be in matchmaking

Those are actually big deals when it comes to experience I think.

These posts make me laugh.

Seriously, you guys complain and complain and complain about how you wish that some classic maps could return, then the top three maps are listed as Guardian, Last Resort and the Pit/Sandtrap, depending on who’s talking.

As soon as they announce a classic map, "oh well this sucks, its gonna be bad for x and y reasons.

Why can’t any of you guys just be happy that they are still working on giving content to players, including armor, skins, a classic map and another map that has gamechangers (finally) in game.

I even saw people complaning about the armor they are bringing back. You just moan and groan for the loss of great things, they bring it back and you just moan and groan about how it will be, when you have very little know on whether or not it will turn out for good or for worse.

I have never seen a more picky, unforgiving community in my life.

and trust me

I’ve been on the Half Life forums after E3. Not pretty.

As long as they didn’t mess with the dimensions of the map and they include this in team throwdown then I’ll probably pick up this DLC.

I hope to see it in FFA.
