So I know they have revealed Ragnorak (Valhalla) and the chances are the unseen maps will likely be something to do with forge (I think their going to drop the veil on this one next week or the week after).
My question is mainly aimed at forgers, due in part to my ignorance in this area. We have all seen lots of good Pit remakes on Reach but not many Guardians. So, enough rambling.
Is anyone intending to make a Guardian or Pit remake pretty soon after launch?
Also, I hope they cater to this possibility in their forge worlds (like they did with the Ascension remake.
I wish i was good in forge, I’ve tried making good decent maps, but it just doesn’t work out very well. Hopefully with the implication of the magnet system i can finally be a half-decent forger. But anyway, i really hope remakes get made soon. Although i couldn’t see how guardian would be with sprint default…
There will definitely be people making remake maps soon after release, rest assured. If the quality of remakes is similar to others I remember from Reach. (Blackout/Lockout remake on Tempest) Then fans of nostalgia will get their fix

I’m the same. I just don’t have the patience of some of these saints. Plus I’m a perfectionist. I see you point about the sprint. But maybe because of its size there wont be as much room to sprint, hence it not becoming an issue. If they do remake it I hope they add in the awesome jump/drops. So SO SO many assassinations from S2-S1 but also a lot of glory fails.

But if one were going to remake maps, Halo 4 would be the game to do it in. Three distinct Forge worlds, nicer, less shiny/pixelated textures for objects, dynamic lighting… sure, it may not look exactly like the original, but it’ll still look pretty fantastic compared to Halo 3 & Halo: Reach Forge maps

I have a feeling these Forge Worlds will be a lot easier on the eyes
The thing I have about remakes of Guardian is that it’s never the same. The scale and all of its trick jumps cannot be done with forge. There’s also a huge difference with sprint, makes the gameplay a lot weirder.
I’d like to see a good attempt before I judge, though.
I’m hoping we will get some decent forge remakes. Hoping even more that forge has enough variety to ensure forge maps aren’t grey-fests like they were in Reach.
It’s a shame we couldn’t have a guardian sized map as standard though. Sprint really dictates map design.

Pretty sure as with ALL Halo games, that it is customisable to remove sprint in certain gametypes.
I for one will be making Guardian again like I did in Reach. I made it classic slayer, tweaked movement to 120% and Jumping to 125% and it was perfect to Halo 3.
And is it me or was Valhalla (A hall in which heroes killed in battle) just the best name for that map? I like the whole Norse God/mythology direction as always but it was a better name then Ragnarok.

True. It would work BEAUTIFULLY in a “Classic” playlist though. I mean yeah, some of the trick jumps (getting up to the top floor of the lift room via double-jumping and such) could be tough to replicate, but even without them, it would still be a great map to play on if done correctly. And in a classic playlist without Sprint, AA’s, randomized weapon spawns, Specializations, and Ordinance Drops, it would still play very much like it did in Halo 3, being that 343 brought back the jump height & player speed back up to Halo 3 standards (or got really, really close anyway).
