The "Perk"-System and how I think it will work

First, if my grammar isn’t that good, I apologize, because english was my 3rd language and I’m still learning.

I guess, I’m not the only one, who cares about the “perk”-system, but I think I figured out, how it is going to work. Not 100% sure, because it could and maybe will be total different, but here is what I think it will be:

Remembered the Halo Reach Beta? As we got the first impressions on Armor Abilities and the Armory? First I thought the different armor parts are improving the Armor Abilities, because the text written underneath them was letting think me this.

I give you some examples:

Left and Right Shoulder Parts:

FJ/PARA: >Designed specifically for airborne units; maximum protection, minimum weight.

JUMP JET: >Early prototype safety restraints for use with extant Jump Jet equipment.

Chest:

UA/BASE SECURITY [W]: >Bringing grenades to a gunfight.

Left and Right Shoulder parts in the Beta:

I don’t know the name anymore of the shoulder parts, but there was a shoulder part, which described the improvement of the stealth system(active camo).

I’m sure there are a few more examples, which are describing an upgrade for an AA, but this should be enough to understand my point. What I’m trying to say is, that 343i said, that they want to improve the Armor Ability-system and if the armor pieces/parts have an effect on the multiplayer, then this is what it could be.

What do you think? Could this be the “perk”-system? Please discuss and let me know what you guys think.

with best regards

It’s probably something along those lines tbh. Though I really hope it isn’t (no offense).

343i confirmed it would not be perks as we know them to be in COD.

I am guessing its more of a chromehounds style system. Players can pick and choose from a number of different parts / features which have a cost associated to it. All players have the same fixed amount to spend on building their spartan.

Dude, I hope it, too.

Nobody else, who want to agree, disagree or discuss?

I don’t think people really know what perks are

I don’t know what Call of Duty perks are. But when I heard that they’d be introducing a similar system, I thought much like the OP that it’d have to do with armour variants. I think it’d be neat if you could strap on a bandolier to get an extra grenade slot, or EOD helmet to gain resistance to explosions. Ideally none of the benefits are major things that redefine gameplay. But all of them should be able to help you play the way you like to play even better.

Also, I think it’d be nice to be able to see an opponent’s perks – that is, if they’re tied to armour, people that know their stuff and keep a close watch will know what they can expect from you.

You’re talking along the lines of armor-affecting gameplay, which 343i said would be in. I did mention how it could actually be different than what everybody thought it would most likely be.

"Armor pick ups on the map? Like picking up some armor on the game that increases your defense and makes you heavier for a limited amount of time? Has 343i confirmed that it will be armor from the start of the game that changes gameplay? I sure hope not.

I know I’m probably wrong, but I’m trying to see the best way they could implement it.

EDIT: Okay, it seems that 343i haven’t announced armor from the start of the game affecting gameplay…My hope for this game has gone a little bit up."

Probably something like that, though it will hopefully be only for defense purposes or just bonus stuff. If they made so it would improve offense, that would be unfair.

> I don’t think people really know what perks are

Well, if you have played CoD or Battlefield you should know what perks are, but in Halo? The Armor Abilities are perks for me, so I don’t know what perks are going to look like in Halo 4.
