What is your idea of the perfect spawn weapon? I personally would favor the pistol being the spawn weapon for Halo 4. It is a side arm and would make sense in my opinion. Ofcourse this is only for normal Team slayer. What are your thoughts? How would you want the spawn weapon to behave?
My personal idea of a spawn weapon is a pistol with a 5 shot kill capability. It needs to have a 12 round clip so that it can get two kills without reloading. In turn the rof should be slower than reach’s so that it is not abbused and is balanced.

I agree, mabey a pistol ar combo, since the pistol is precise enough to help you not get destroyed by long range weapons until you find a better one.

yah im really hoping that the ar is A LOT better in h4. hopefully somethin like h1. neways it needs to be good enough to pick up on the map. you should wantthe ar more than a pistol

for BTB style play you cannot have a useful utility weapon because it makes all others minus the power weapons useless.
for arena halo not having an effective utility weapon makes it very unskillful and limits you teamwork to teamshotting and makes you have to charge you enemies relentlesly.

Everyone should start with the AR and pistol. The BR shouldnt be a starting weapon!! The BR is dangerous in almost any situation so it would push players into finding a better weapon. Weapon pickups is a key element to Halo Multiplayer. Reach took that away… lets bring it back 343!!

You should never spawn without it.
You should never be forced to use a CQC niche weapon off of your spawn, it puts you at an insanely bad disadvantage.

The only weapons good players picked up were BRs or power weapons…
Assuming that there’s no utility weapon in the sandbox, this pair of spawning weapons would manage to have all the benefits of utility weapons with none of the downfalls:
The Short-Ranger.
This weapon would be fairly effective at short-range, and if burst-fired properly, it could also be used competently at mid-range. The weapon would be absolutely ineffective at long-range. It would be similar to Reach’s AR (an automatic weapon with bloom to force burst-firing), but with far less aim assist, and increased damage. Swapping to this weapon would be faster than for most other guns.
The Long-Ranger.
A three-round-burst weapon effective at long and medium ranges, but worthless at short-ranges. The weapon would be hitscan, bloomless, and free of spread. However, you would not be able to use it at long range. (I’m not sure how such a limitation could be enacted. Perhaps the projectiles could do more damage the farther they travel – with spread similar to that on the Halo 3 BR to offset the increased damage at very long ranges?) Swapping to this weapon would be faster than for most other guns.
Together
Reach uses a utility weapon spawn, where the DMR is capable of effective combat at short-, medium-, and long-range. Most of the niche and other weapons, however, are only useful at a single range. This has an unfortunate side-effect: if you swap your DMR for any other weapon (besides power weapons and the NR), you will be worthless at two of the three possible combat ranges.
The benefits of the two weapons I have proposed is that you can trade either of them for a niche weapon while keeping the other, and remain effective at two of the three possible combat ranges. This, combined with the fast draw time on the two starting weapons, would mean that the two weapons together provide exactly as much protection as an all-range utility weapon, while still allowing you to drop one or the other gun without immediately crippling your ability to defend yourself.
A medium-range rifle, along with a reliable accurate sidearm.

and im sure you would be perfectly fine with the Br being the only weapon in Halo
